INTRODUCTION: Skin lesions in close proximity to the lumbosacral region should be assessed in newborns, since they may be the first sign of … was decided upon six months later. Pathological examination confirmed diagnosis - Hoffmann-Zurhelle nevus.
DISCUSSION: Hoffmann-Zurhelle nevus is an infrequent cutaneous hamartomatous lesion in newborns. Treatment is always surgical in order to avoid potential growth-related complications.

Blue nevi are a heterogeneous group of lesions that can display a variety of different clinicopathological characteristics. Although attempts are made to classify each lesion into defined subtypes, there can be overlap between the subtypes. The clinical , dermoscopic and histolopathologic features of a case of proliferative nodule arising within blue nevus is discussed. Running title: Blue nevi are an heterogeneous group of melanocytic lesions blue tinctorial properties. Proliferative nodules are rare benign lesions often present at birth as a component of a large congenital melanocytic nevi, …

A 47-year-old women presented for Mohs Micrographic Surgery for a biopsy proven basal cell carcinoma involving the right nasal ala. The patient had a history of basal cell nevus syndrome (BCNS) and previous history of multiple basal cell carcinomas.

Woolly hair nevus consists of a patch of curly and hypopigmented hair that is restricted to an area of the scalp. It is usually benign but it can be associated with other systemic findings. Trichoscopy and dermoscopy may be useful when analyzing this entity. The authors describe a case of woolly hair nevus in a 5-year-old boy and present a review of the literature of woolly hair nevus, including classification, histopathology, associated systemic findings, and the recent described genetic mutations.

A 58-year-old man presented with visual distortion in the right eye for 2 years. His best-corrected visual acuity was 20/25 in each eye. Fun … ng, laser pointer-gazing, and alkyl nitrate (popper) medications. The final diagnosis was choroidal nevus with focal extensive outer retinal atrophy, giving a pseudosolar retinopathy appearance. Imaging with EDI-OCT provides indispensable information concerning retinal and RPE alterations overlying choroidal nevus and other choroidal lesions. [Ophthalmi …

Segmental nevus depigmentosus and segmental vitiligo can be difficult to differentiate from each other. Differential diagnosis of these two diseases is important because they have significantly different prognoses and psychological effects. The purpose of this study is to identify clinical clues that may be helpful in differentiating these two diseases. We enrolled 63 patients with segmental nevus depigmentosus and 149 patients with segmental vitiligo. Sex, age of onset, sites involved, dermatomal distribution, margin of lesion and presence of poliosis were evaluated in both groups. The age of…

Nevus sebaceus (NS), also known as an organoid nevus, is a congenital skin hamartoma involving the pilosebaceous unit, epidermis, and adnexa, frequently occurring in the scalp area. During childhood, the lesion remains unchanged but may subsequently increase in size during puberty in response to hormonal release, with possible tumor development. We report a case of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) development in an NS with histologic evidence of perineural involvement on the anterior central scalp of a 13-year-old adolescent girl. We also review the management and prognosis.

We report the first case of an 82-year-old woman with five basal cell carcinomas within a large nevus sebaceous of the trunk. Nevus sebaceous of Jadassohn is a congenital cutaneous hamartoma affecting 0.3% of newborns. Clinical diagnosis is based on its distinctive hairless, orange-brown appearance. Up to 51% of nevus sebaceous may exhibit secondary neoplasia, and basal cell carcinoma is thought to occur in approximately 1% of lesions. Our patient presented with an asymptomatic, pigmented verrucous plaque on the upper right back that had been present since birth. Histopathology of concerning p…

Agminated nevus refers to the presence of multiple nevi grouped in a circumscribed skin area; it is rarely reported in the literature. This report presents the case of a 10-year-old female patient with a history of Langerhans cell histiocytosis, who presents multiple nevi in the lumbar and inguinal region. In the histopathological study, an atypical melanocytic nevus was reported. Wood's lamp examination discarded the presence of nevus spilus, and the diagnosis of agminated nevus was reached. The association of this type of nevus with Langerhans cell histiocytosis is rare, and only four cases …

Inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus (ILVEN) is an epidermal nevus that clinically and histologically mimics linear psoriasis. The pathogenesis of psoriasis has been widely investigated, with recent studies focusing especially on targeting proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-17A, TNFα, IL-23, and IL-12, while little is known about ILVEN. Since the treatment for ILVEN varies widely from the administration of topical ointment for psoriasis to invasive methods such as carbon dioxide gas laser, the differential diagnosis between ILVEN and psoriasis is necessary. In this report, we descri…

Nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis (NLCS) is an uncommon lesion characterized by ectopic adipose tissue in the dermis and can be generalized or localized. It presents as a soft skin colored to yellowish papules or cerebriform plaques occurring usually on the buttock or thigh in a segment distribution. We report a case of NLCS in 38-year-old female, which was treated using the ultrapulse mode CO2 Laser. We describe the scientific logic and clinical results of using the ultrapulse mode in relation to the pathology of NLCS.

BACKGROUND: Epidermal nevi are benign hamartomatous growths of the skin that present at birth and develop in early childhood often linearly along the "lines of Blaschko." Verrucous linear epidermal nevi are the most common epidermal nevi and often are located on the trunk or extremities. There is minimal evidence regarding vulvar involvement and subsequent management of the associated cosmetic deformity in this anatomic location.
CASE: An 11-year-old menarchal girl who underwent full-thickness dermal excision of a 9.6 × 4.5 × 3.2 cm left benign vulvar epidermal nevus (noninflammatory type) wi…

A 69-year-old white man presented with several episodes of hematochezia. Colonoscopy demonstrated multiple colonic blebs localized mainly in the distal transverse colon. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, capsule endoscopy, and computed tomography of the abdomen did not reveal any abnormalities. The patient required several blood transfusions and eventually required a subtotal colectomy with ileosigmoid anastomosis for definitive bleeding control. Pathology was remarkable for multifocal vascular ectasia, consistent with the diagnosis of blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome.

Nevus sebaceous is a hamartoma with an uneventful course since birth but many benign or malignant tumors are known to develop in about one third of the patients. A 37-year-old woman with asymptomatic hairless raised lesion over the scalp since birth presented with change in the morphology of the lesions associated with itching and irritation since one month. On examination, multiple well-defined hyperpigmented verrucous plaques coalescing with each other were seen over the right parietal scalp associated with alopecia. A single well-defined soft skin-colored cystic swelling of size 1 × 2 cm wa…
