The distinction between subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL) and lupus erythematosus (LE) panniculitis is remarkably challenging. We present a remarkable case of subcutaneous panniculitic T-cell lymphoma (SPTL) that eluded diagnosis for 14 years and illustrates the importance of continued follow-up with repeat biopsy when SPTL is suspected. This case is unusual in that multiple biopsies demonstrated either a nonspecific panniculitis or lipomembranous panniculitis with calcified lipomembranes. A clinicopathologic review of 72 cases of SPTL from the English language literature is also presented, and approaches to diagnosis and treatment are reviewed.

BACKGROUND: Subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL) is a malignant primary cutaneous T-cell lymphoma that shares significant clinical, histopathologic and immunophenotypic overlap with lupus erythematosus panniculitis (LEP).

Ponatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor used in children with chronic myeloid leukemia. We report a case of neutrophilic panniculitis following ponatinib administration in a child. With the expanded use of immunomodulatory medications in the pediatric population, this report aims to expand knowledge regarding potential drug-related adverse events and the inclusion of ponatinib-related adverse events in the differential diagnosis of neutrophilic panniculitis.
