AIMS: Essential oils (EOs) have emerged as promising alternatives to conventional sanitizers. Although their antifungal activity has been widely reported, studies on application as sanitizers in food processing environments remain limited. This study evaluated the adhesion capacity of seven yeast strains, specifically Wickerhamomyces anomalus and Pichia kudriavzevii, isolated from a beverage processing line. It also investigated the potential of oregano and thyme EOs, applied individually or in combination, to inhibit fungal growth and cell adhesion.

The vaginal environment with candidiasis has a pH of 3.8 to 4.5 and this has a negative effect on the activity of antifungals. Ibrexafungerp was evaluated against 187 Candida isolates, including fluconazole-sensitive and -resistant Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida parapsilosis, and Candida tropicalis with the media adjusted to pH 7.0 and pH 4.5. Ibrexafungerp MIC values were not adversely affected when tested at pH 4.5. Ibrexafungerp exhibited significant activity against all isolates at pH 4.5.

We performed a retrospective survey of non-Candida albicans candidemia in patients with cancer, including those with solid tumors and those with hematological malignancies as well as transplants patients both, solid-organ transplant recipients and hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. The study was performed at two healthcare centers in New York City and covered the years 2018-2022. A total of 292 patients (318 isolates) were included in the study.
