Psychometric Evaluation of the Dimensional Anhedonia Rating Scale (DARS): A Preliminary Study.

AIM: Anhedonia is a transdiagnostic symptom of major depressive disorder (MDD) that is also influenced by substance use, yet the Dimensional Anhedonia Rating Scale (DARS) has only been validated in MDD. This study examined the psychometric properties of the DARS in co-occurring MDD and cannabis use disorder (CUD). METHODS: Thirty-five participants completed the DARS, Snaith-Hamilton Pleasure Scale (SHAPS), Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HRSD), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Analyses included confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency, Spearma

Development and psychometric validation of the Kanazawa University loneliness scale for children and adolescents.

Loneliness is a key risk factor for youth mental health; however, existing scales often fail to capture its multidimensional and relational nature. This study developed the [blinded] University Loneliness Scale (KULoS) for students in Grades 1-9 and evaluated its psychometric properties using cross-sectional and longitudinal survey data collected in Ishikawa, Japan (Time 1: n = 856; Time 2: n = 709). Exploratory factor analyses conducted separately for grades 1-4 and grades 5-9 supported a two-factor structure primarily reflecting item wording (direct vs. indirect items). The four-item direct

Psychometric properties of the paternal support scale for breastfeeding in the Iranian fathers population.

PROBLEM: The support of fathers is a crucial factor for successful breastfeeding. However, there has been a lack of a validated tool to measure this in Iran, which has impeded targeted assessment and intervention. BACKGRUND: Breastfeeding provides essential health benefits for infants. Paternal support plays a significant role in its continuation, highlighting the importance of having a culturally adapted measurement instrument within the Iranian context. METHODS: This methodological study used a cross-sectional design and selected 460 Iranian fathers through multi‑stage cluster sampling (de

Evaluation of the psychometric properties of the Test Anxiety Coping Skills (TACS) measure.

This study examined the psychometric properties of the Test Anxiety Coping Skills (TACS) measure, a new self-report scale developed to assess strategies employed by school-age students to cope with test anxiety. TACS proposed a three-factor structure of test anxiety coping skills that correspond to the three major treatment methods identified across previous studies as important components of test anxiety intervention programs: cognitive strategies, behavioral strategies, and study and test-taking skills. The study was conducted among a sample of 228 secondary school students (Grades 8 and 9)

Psychometric properties and validation of the Postpartum Bonding Questionnaire (PBQ) in Mexican mothers.

PURPOSE: Mother-infant bonding disorders have the potential to impact infant development and maternal mental health during the perinatal period. In Mexico, the limited information regarding their prevalence is associated with the absence of validated instruments for their detection. The Postpartum Bonding Questionnaire (PBQ) is one of the most widely used instruments internationally, although it reports high psychometric heterogeneity depending on the context. The objective of this study was to adapt and evaluate the psychometric properties of a Mexican version of the PBQ (PBQ-Mx) and to estab

Development and Initial Psychometric Evaluation of the Multidimensional Vaping Dependence Index (MVDI).

Vaping dependence is a growing public health concern, yet existing measures may not adequately capture its multidimensional nature. This study introduces the Multidimensional Vaping Dependence Index (MVDI), a 27-item self-report instrument assessing behavioral engagement, reinforcement, and loss of control. Items were developed from general addiction models, nicotine and tobacco dependence research, and vapingspecific literature and refined through expert review. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses in 530 adults who reported vaping (99.4% at least weekly) supported a three-factor stru

Psychometric properties of the Turkish high-activity arthroplasty score in TKA patients.

BACKGROUND: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) has become increasingly common in younger and more active patients. However, conventional patient-reported outcome measures frequently demonstrate ceiling effects and fail to capture the high functional demands of this population. The High-Activity Arthroplasty Score (HAAS) was designed to assess advanced functions such as running, stair climbing, and demanding daily activities. This study aims to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the Turkish version of HAAS (T-HAAS) for patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). METHODS: Following Beat

Psychometric Properties of the Work Ability Index Among Patients With Arthritis in Singapore.

AIM: The Work Ability Index (WAI) is recommended for use among individuals with arthritis but has yet to be validated in Singapore. We therefore aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of WAI among individuals with arthritis in Singapore and whether its first item (WAS) and a version without disease-related item (WAInodis) could be proxies for WAI. METHODS: Factor structure, internal consistency, convergent validity, and known-groups validity of WAI were evaluated. Concurrent, convergent, and known-groups validity of WAS and WAInodis were examined to assess their potential as proxies.

Psychometric Evaluation of the Tinnitus Severity Short Form Measure in Veterans and Civilians.

PURPOSE: Tinnitus is the perception of sound that cannot be attributed to an external source, which can be distressing. There are several measures of tinnitus distress available; however, these measures are difficult to use in practice. The Tinnitus Severity Short Form (TS-SF) was developed to be a brief, pragmatic measure. However, it is presently unclear whether the measure may be invariant across groups. METHOD: Participants (N = 277) completed the TS-SF. Confirmatory factor analysis and measurement invariance analyses were run in Mplus. RESULTS: A confirmatory factor analysis demonstrate
