With a wide excision of skin melanoma localized in areas of the sternum, the sacrum or on the back near body's midline there is often occurred a problem of closing appeared defect. Local tissues are insufficient and performing of free plastic is undesirable because of the unfavorable conditions of the free flap engraftment due to the peculiarities of transplant bed and difficulties of immobilization and fixation of the flap. For exactly such surgical situations we have developed a method of reliable replacement of appeared defects by two adjacent symmetrical rotary flaps.

OBJECTIVES: To describe common patterns of facial asymmetry and to augment the facial analysis paradigm for improved preoperative counseling and surgical planning.
METHODS: We conducted a frontal photographic analysis of 50 patients who were seeking various types of facial cosmetic surgical procedures. The horizontal zonal thirds of the face were analyzed, and the bilateral data points were compared in regard to brow height, width of midface at maximum distance, malar eminence height,nasal alar height, and mandible width measured from the oral commissure to the gonial angle.

PURPOSE: To describe the use and efficacy of AlloDerm in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.
METHODS: A retrospective review was conducted of 31 eyes of 25 patients who underwent an AlloDerm graft procedure for correction of lower lid retraction, anophthalmic socket contraction, superior sulcus deformity, implant exposure, or skin defect. Clinical outcomes were measured by the degree of improvement and incidence of complications. Operation success and reoperation rates were also evaluated.

BACKGROUND: Bowen's disease and erythroplasia of Queyrat are intraepidermal neoplasias (carcinoma in situ) and are considered as preinvasive types of penile squamous cell carcinoma. The risk of progression to invasive cancer is low and such a process can last up to 20 years.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: Penis preservation and simultaneous complete excision of the tumour are strongly related to the quality of life of the patients and thereby represent the aim of the therapy. Local excision with reconstructive plastic surgery allows satisfactory aesthetic results without jeopardizing cancer control.

To promote wound healing, we used autologous fibrin-platelet glue in 14 patients with skin and soft tissue losses caused by recent trauma or chronic pathology. The level of improvement was scored, arbitrarily, from 0 to 4. Very favourable results (score 3-4) were seen in 11 out of 14 patients. The glue preparation is very easy, inexpensive and creates excellent and stable hemostasis. From a general point of view, we have confirmed the utility of fibrin-platelet glue in terms of reduced infections and length of hospital stay.

Reconstruction of the orbit can at times be difficult when tumors of this region are resected. We describe a new surgical procedure to reconstruct the outer canthus of the orbital region, including lateral portions of the upper and lower lids. The techniques that were used until now are often limited in repairing this anatomical area, and the results we obtained with this case encourage us to utilize the superficial temporal fascia.

The characteristic, bloodhound-like appearance, which degenerates gradually, of patients with primary hereditary systemic amyloidosis, also called Meretoja's syndrome (MS), is attributable to amyloid degeneration of the craniofacial skin and peripheral facial nerves, but apparently also to amyloid deposits in the muscles; a finding not previously described. A material of five patients treated with plastic surgery is presented, and the peculiarities and differences of this rare disease in comparison with other peripheral neuropathies is discussed from a reconstructive viewpoint.
