Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is able to provide high resolution volumetric data for biological tissues. However, the field of view (FOV) of OCT is sometimes smaller than the field of interest, which limits the clinical application of OCT. One way to overcome the drawback is to stitch multiple 3D volumes. In this paper, we propose a novel method to register multiple overlapped volumetric OCT data into a single volume. The relative positions of overlapped volumes were estimated on en face plane and at depth. On en face plane, scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) was implemented to extr

Parry-Romberg syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by progressive hemifacial atrophy. Ophthalmic findings are characterized by enophthalmos, strabismus, nerve palsies, anisometropia, glaucoma, and angle abnormalities. Vision loss has also been reported due to retinal changes such as venous dilatation, disc edema, retinal edema, and retinal folds. The authors describe a case of Parry-Romberg syndrome with retinal alterations but a normal macula on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography.

The anterior segment optical coherence tomography provides an objective method to assess the anterior segment of the eye, including the anatomy of the anterior chamber angle. This technology allows both qualitative and quantitative analyses of the angle and has shown potential in detecting and managing angle-closure glaucoma. In addition, it has a role in identifying pathology in some forms of secondary open-angle glaucoma and postsurgical management of glaucoma. Limitations of this technology include its cost and inability to visualize well structures posterior to the iris, such as the ciliar

This case report describes the optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings and clinical management of a patient with traumatic subluxed cataract. The patient presented with a traumatic subluxed cataract and vitreous prolapse into the anterior chamber. The anterior segment OCT showed vacuoles in the anterior subcapsular regions of the crystalline lens. The patient was treated with pars plana lensectomy, vitrectomy, and placement of an anterior chamber intraocular lens. The patient's best corrected visual acuity improved from hand motion at presentation to 20/25 during 3 years of follow-up. Ante

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging is showing great potential as an alternative or complementary tool to intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) for aiding in stent procedures and future diagnosis/treatment of atherosclerosis. Here, we describe the basic theory behind OCT imaging and explain important parameters such as axial resolution, lateral resolution and sensitivity. Also, we describe several image acquisition techniques that have been adopted for OCT imaging.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The use of optical coherence tomography (OCT)-measured retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in neuro-ophthalmic disease has grown since its first use in glaucoma and retinal diseases. OCT-measured RNFL in nonglaucomatous optic neuropathies shows thinning, which may mimic those seen in glaucoma. This article aims to provide insight regarding the use of OCT in nonglaucomatous optic neuropathies and sheds light on common patterns of RNFL loss in different nonglaucomatous optic neuropathies.
RECENT FINDINGS: RNFL thinning is most likely to occur in the temporal peripapill
