The ability to harvest and preserve epididymal sperm from a stallion after simple elective castration, a catastrophic injury, or severe acute illness and subsequent death has been realized, allowing for the preservation of genetics that would have been lost otherwise.Currently, the care taken to collect the testes and epididymides properly, coupled with proper packaging and shipping, could make the greatest contribution to salvaging viable sperm. As advances in assisted reproductive techniques continue, more offspring may be obtained from stored epididymal sperm from valuable stallions.

History was taken systematically for 100 azoospermic, nonvasectomized men referred consecutively to a Danish fertility clinic. The men were examined by ultrasound, and their blood samples were analyzed for karyotype, Y microdeletions, and cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator gene mutations. In 29% of patients, the condition could be explained by genetic abnormalities; in 22%, by diseases or external influence; and in 27%, by former cryptorchidism. The azoospermic condition remained unexplained in only 22%.

PURPOSE: Achieving a scrotally positioned testis with no iatrogenic atrophy is the primary goal of the surgical treatment of cryptorchidism. The success rate is associated with preoperative testicular position and the technique used. Our success rate with inguinal orchiopexy for abdominal testis is higher than those previously published and may be due to our anatomical approach to retroperitoneal dissection. OBJECTIVE: To treat obstructive azoospermia by using sperm recovered from percutaneous vasal sperm aspiration in IUI.
DESIGN: Clinical study.
SETTING: Institutional clinic in Jinan.
PATIENT(S): Six men with obstructive azoospermia, three of whom were treated with percutaneous vasal sperm aspiration and IUI; sperm recovered from this procedure were used for IUIs.
INTERVENTION(S): Spermatozoa used for intrauterine injection were retrieved by percutaneous vasal sperm aspiration and incubated at 37 degrees C for 40 to 60 minutes.

A total of 208 boys with a unilateral impalpable testis and a contralateral descended testis was studied to correlate the probability of finding blind-ending vas and vessels (vanishing testis) with the side of presentation of the impalpable testis. Laparoscopy has proved to be a safe method for determining the status for nonpalpable testes. In a combined series 52 boys with 57 nonpalpable testes were evaluated laparoscopically. This experimental study on 15 adult male rats with bilateral epididymovasostomies evaluates a new technique of tubule intussusception as an improved form of end-to-end anastomosis. This paper describes in detail the steps in this technique and offers physiological, anatomical, and histological follow-up after 3 months. With this technique there is a 97% patency rate and a 23.3% incidence of macroscopic spermatic granuloma. Complications are discussed in detail.
