An 11-year-old boy presented with a 4-week history of fever and 2 weeks later developed a cough with breathlessness. His chest X-ray showed bilateral miliary shadows with pneumothorax on the left side. While on antituberculous therapy which was started on admission, he developed right-sided pneumothorax with significant collapse of the left lung. He was managed by tube thoracotomy with underwater seal but died 4 hours after the procedure was completed.

Aneurysmal bone cyst is a pseudoneoplastic skeletal disorder. The material of the Tumor Center at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute refers to 198 cases, 25 (12.6%) with spinal localization. The X-ray pattern of aneurysmal bone cyst is represented by an osteolytic area more or less evidently involving the vertebra, with frequent extension to the surrounding soft tissues. Its maturing evolution is typical, and occurs both spontaneously and after surgical and/or radiation therapy.

UNLABELLED: The combined α-, γ-, and x-ray emitter (213)Bi (half-life, 46 min) is promising for radionuclide therapy. A technique for rotational total skin electron irradiation is presented in which the patient stands on a slowly rotating platform (SSD = 285 cm) in a large uniform linear accelerator electron field (Eo = 3.5 MeV). Radiotherapy (RT) is widely used for malignant tumors ablation in the clinic. However, redundant doses of X-rays might cause irreversible side effects in the periphery of tumor sites. To address this, the convergence of low-dose RT with a novel therapeutic method is promising. We describe a case of right eye tubercular (TB) panuveitis with corneal involvement where repeated intraocular sampling was unsuccessful. Finally, evisceration and histopathology of ocular tissue confirmed the diagnosis of ocular tuberculosis. A chest X-ray showed signs of pulmonary TB. The patient was lost to follow-up but reported 2 months later with the right eyelid margin nodules with surface ulceration. Both eyelid and pulmonary lesions were resolved with anti-TB therapy.

We present a patient 50 years old, complaining of right lumbar pain and miccional syndrome for three weeks. After analytic and x-ray studies, renal tuberculosis and renal cell carcinoma was the diagnosis. We started with specific antibiotic therapy and a radical nephrectomy was developed. According with the literature revised, just three cases has been published before. Because is an unusual clinic presentation we present these clinical note, we discuss the pathogenic and therapeutic procedures.

Aggressive fibromatosis of the breast is an uncommon benign disease. The clinical and X-Ray findings can simulate breast cancer. The diagnosis relies on histology. The typical feature of this disease is a locally aggressive but non metastasizing lesion with high recurrence rate. Treatment consists in wide excision. The role of radiation and drug therapy including antiestrogens has not been clearly established. Colonoscopy is indicated to research for an association with Gardner syndrome.

We describe a 23 months old boy who presented a clinical picture of bronchial hyperreactivity and a tumoral intrathoracic mass in a plain thorax X-ray, receiving for these reasons, antibiotic therapy during 30 days. Intravenous pyelography and ultrasonography revealed the presence of an ectopic intrathoracic kidney. Since this renal anomaly is usually asymptomatic and do not requires treatment, it is necessary to suspect this abnormality whenever an intrathoracic mass is found.

The pathology of patella dislocation is divided into different groups: primary, secondary, recurrent dislocation and patella subluxation. In the diagnosis, in addition to clinical and X-ray investigations a certain computerized tomography extended on the SEG examination. A new examination of the EG tomographs had increased the diagnostic facilities. Our therapeutical program is based on physical therapy. After failure of physiotherapy to achieve satisfactory results the operation technique according to Slocum and Larson is performed.

Bone involvement has exceptionally been reported in children with periarteritis nodosa. A 5-year old girl was admitted to hospital for fever and arthralgias. Three months later, myalgias and painful subcutaneous nodules developed on the legs and ankles. Skin biopsy yielded a diagnosis of periarteritis nodosa. X-ray films revealed a bilateral periosteal reaction with images of laminae in the tibia and fibula. After a 4-year remission under corticosteroid therapy, the periosteal reaction persisted.

A new case of leydigioma, seen in a young adult, poses the problem of the long term prognosis of an apparently benign tumour of this type. The usefulness of routine complementary carcinological therapy associating radio-surgery and immunotherapy is discussed. In fact, such treatment was rejected in favour of strict surveillance, possible in a cooperative subject, involving clinical examination every three months and endocrine studies and a chest X-ray every 2 months.

A life-threatening respiratory disease, characterized by fever, cough, dyspnoea, cyanosis and wide-spread bilateral pulmonary infiltrates, developed in a 40-year-old patient receiving intermittent methotrexate therapy for psoriasis. Blood eosinophilia accompanied the illness. A prominent feature in the clinical picture was a discrepancy between auscultatory findings and the pronounced changes in the chest X-ray. Systemic corticosteroids produced rapid improvement. It is suggested that the pulmonary syndrome represents a hypersensitivity reaction.

The response of bone mass to long-term treatment with estrogen and progesterone in patients with complete androgen-insensitivity syndrome (AIS) is unknown.
