Acute gastrointestinal bleeding is one of the most frequent medical emergencies. The most common causes are inflammations, ulcers, neoplasms and angiodysplasias. Attention is called to a poorly recognized syndrome of neonatal renal arterial embolism, presumably from the ductus arteriosum, resulting in malignant hypertension, congestive heart failure, respiratory distress, and increased renin secretion.
