Extracellular triphosphate nucleotides, such as ATP, may regulate various cellular functions through specific cell surface receptors. We examine in this report the different secretory effects of ATP and analogs on nontransformed dog pancreatic duct epithelial cells (PDEC). Contractions evoked by noradrenaline (1 microM) or a depolarizing solution of 60 mM KCl were concentration dependently depressed by the aporphine alkaloids (S)-boldine and (R)-apomorphine in rat aorta.
