Porokeratotic eccrine ostial and dermal duct nevus and a similar condition, porokeratotic eccrine and hair follicle nevus, are rare disorders of keratinization with eccrine and hair follicle involvement. Eccrine squamous syringometaplasia is a histologic finding associated with chemotherapy administration and other cutaneous diseases. Concentration of the chemotherapeutic agents is believed to effect toxic changes in these epithelial structures. We report the first case of vincristine-induced eccrine squamous syringometaplasia in a 12-year-old patient undergoing treatment for rhabdomyosarcoma.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the reactions of emergency department nurses to violence.
METHODS: Q-methodology which provides a method of analyzing the subjectivity of each item was used. Thirty emergency department nurses classified 33 selected Q-statements into a normal distribution using a 9 point scale. The collected data was analyzed using the Quanl PC Program.

BACKGROUND: Cluster designation 23 (CD23) is generally used as a lymphoid marker. Its utility in cutaneous epithelial tumors has never been … liable immunohistochemical marker of the eccrine/apocrine secretory coil and helpful in identifying sweat gland tumors of such origin. It is of ancillary value in differentiating MAC from its mimicker. CD23 is a useful addition to the diagnostic immunohistochemical panels for Paget's disease.

BACKGROUND: Eccrine poroma (EP) are relatively common benign eccrine neoplasms. Other poroid neoplasms (PNs), namely hidroacanthoma simplex (HS), dermal duct tumor (DDT), and poroid hidradenoma (PH), are seldom reported.
METHODS: Among 18 653 biopsy specimens received from January 1988 to October 2003, we found 25 PNs (0.134%). We conducted retrospective analysis and obtained clinical and histopathological information.
RESULTS: There were 16 EP, 3 HS, 4 PH, and 2 PH coexisting with either HS or EP. No DDT was found. More than half of PNs presented as red-color neoplasms, but none were diagno

One of the two siblings we are presenting here was initially misdiagnosed as having CF, based on the two CF gene mutations identified by gene analysis. We describe the first case of malignant eccrine poroma arising in a lymphoedematous site. The patient had long-standing lymphoedema of the upper limb following breast cancer treatment. Lymphoedema is a recognised complication of breast cancer treatment and a risk factor for the subsequent development of malignancy. Possible mechanisms for this are discussed.

BACKGROUND: Coronary heart disease is a major problem in both men and women, but several studies have shown sex differences in symptoms of acute coronary syndromes (ACS). Some findings, however, have been disparate and inadequate, and thus a comprehensive overview of this literature would be of value.
METHOD: Fifteen studies that identified symptoms of ACS for both women and men were examined through a review of the literature from 1989 to 2002. Terms used for the search included "myocardial infarction," "symptoms," "gender differences," and "acute coronary syndromes."
