BACKGROUND: In spite of the progress in diagnosis and treatment of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (RAAA) the mortality rate still remai … ible hemorrhagic shock. Eight patients (21.6%) died for an intestinal infarction. In 7 patients the fatal outcome was due to the development of an acute renal failure. Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignancy with poor prognosis and limited response to current therapies. Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) of the small intestine is exceedingly rare. We report a woman in her early 50s who presented with acute abdominal pain and was found to have two synchronous jejunal intussusceptions caused by multifocal HS. Emergency laparoscopy converted to open resection revealed multiple jejunal tumours; pathology confirmed HS with mesenteric nodal metastasis. Although 13 tumours were identified, only two lesions served as lead points for intussusception. All tumorous lesions were resected. Cerebral myiasis is an exceptionally rare condition caused by infestation with dipteran larvae, with only 20 cases reported in the literature to date. A 78-year-old man presented with anorexia, vomiting, and fever. This report describes a fatal case of heavy cystic echinococcosis in an adult chimpanzee from a zoo in Shiraz city, southern Iran. We present a case of disseminated granulomatous disease associated with live attenuated vaccine-derived rubella virus (VDRV) in an immunodeficient patient who subsequently developed fatal multi-organ failure, including neurological deficits, with VDRV detected in the cerebrospinal fluid.
