AIMS: Receptor-interacting protein 140 (RIP140) is a ligand-dependent cofactor for nuclear receptors that regulate networks of genes involved in cellular processes, including metabolism. An important role for RIP140 in metabolic control has been identified in RIP140 null mice, whose phenotypes include derepression of genes involved in energy mobilization or catabolism in adipocytes and a switch to more oxidative fibres in skeletal muscle. AIMS: Cardiac mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) activation triggers adverse cardiovascular events that could be efficiently prevented by mineralocorticoid antagonists. To gain insights into the pathophysiological role of MR function, we established embryonic stem (ES) cell lines from blastocysts of transgenic mice overexpressing the human MR driven by its proximal P1 or distal P2 promoter and presenting with cardiomyopathy, tachycardia, and arrhythmia. AIM: This study was done to evaluate a myocardial function in the early hours after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients with left ventricular dysfunction and to compare blood and crystalloid cardioplegia.
METHODS: One hundred consecutive patients with left ventricular ejection fraction <35% scheduled for CABG were randomly divided into 2 groups.
