Nocardia is an uncommon pathogen in immunocompetent patients; however, it has been increasingly recognized as a significant opportunistic pathogen in organ transplant patients. Diagnosis of Nocardiosis is usually made by microbiologic culture or cytologic examination of pulmonary specimens including, sputum, and brushing/washings or by histologic evaluation of tissue biopsy material. The first reported case of bilateral pyoderma gangrenosum of the hands is presented. One lesion was treated with wound care only, with spontaneous healing after two months. The contralateral lesion which occurred one month later was treated with wound care and oral dapsone. Healing occurred between four and six weeks after the start of dapsone. It is suggested that this acts by limiting the necrotizing process, thus allowing earlier epithelialization. Pyoderma gangrenosum is rare, and treatment is non-surgical. It is important that it is recognized to avoid extension of the necrotizing process

We describe light and electron microscopic findings in three cases of pulmonary infection caused by capsule-deficient Cryptococcus neoformans (CDCN) and emphasize the value of the Fontana-Masson silver (FMS) stain in diagnosing cryptococcosis. The tanning method using 7% silvernitrate and 2% mebromide solution for second degree burns in childhood is demonstrated. The advantages of this method are described as singular and painless application of the agent, little annoyance of the patient, bactericidal effect in second degree burns, low expenses and easy medical care. The procedure of tanning is preferred in treating burn injuries of the trunk and non mobile areas of the extremities. We report on indication, procedure of tanning and results in the treatment of 129 burned children.

The semiprecious metals investigated and hard dental gold alloys may be manipulated in a similar manner. The semiprecious metals produced accurate and well-fitted dowels needing minimal adjustment. Being harder than type III gold alloy, they would be ideal for casting dowels and cores. Before considering these semiprecious alloys as final restorations, however, they must be further examined for resistance to tarnish and corrosion and their marginal adaptability and burnishability.

Burn injuries remain a major clinical challenge due to delayed healing, infection risk, and fibrosis.
