Five-year outcomes of a dedicated, multidisciplinary clinic for decompensated cirrhosis.

BACKGROUND: Novel models of ambulatory care have been used in chronic disease management, but implementation in advanced chronic liver disease remains limited. AIMS: We aimed to explore clinical outcomes of a multidisciplinary clinic for patients with chronic liver disease. METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study of patients attending a multidisciplinary liver clinic between February 2019 and May 2024. The clinic comprised co-located hepatologists, a dietitian, a pharmacist and an addiction medicine specialist, coordinated by a hepatology nurse. Patients accessed on-site point-of-

Predictors of Quality of Life Among Middle-Aged Saudi Women: A Hierarchical Regression Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Middle-aged women in Saudi Arabia are navigating a significant period of life transition during the rapid socioeconomic shift driven by the Saudi Vision 2030. Evidence indicates that chronic diseases are associated with poor quality of life (QoL), whereas competing employment and family responsibilities may further influence well-being. Psychosocial resources, including life satisfaction, family role satisfaction, and social support, are important predictors of QoL. Although clinical research often focuses on the physiological changes during this stage, the hierarchical influence o

Microlearning to teach geriatric principles in hospitals: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Hospital-based education in geriatric medicine is often limited in availability and accessibility. Microlearning is defined as short, on-the-go, focused educational interventions (<15 minutes) and offers a practical way to deliver key geriatrics concepts in time-constrained environments. This systematic review investigated the effectiveness of microlearning to learn geriatric medicine principles for hospital-based clinicians. METHODS: This systematic review with meta-analysis (PROSPERO: CRD42023422522) involved a comprehensive search across five databases. Studies evaluating micro

Adolescent condom negotiation: a concept analysis and conceptual framework.

INTRODUCTION: Adolescents are at risk of sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancies. Consistent condom use is effective in curbing the double burden of diseases and unplanned conceptions. Condom negotiation influences consistent condom use. However, a clear operational definition is lacking. This paper analyzes the concept of adolescent condom negotiation and examines its defining attributes, antecedents, and consequences to promote conceptual clarity and enhance sexual health research and practice. METHODS: Norris's (1982) concept clarification method guided this analysis. Th

Caregivers' experience of dental care for infants and young children: a qualitative study based on an information-motivation-behavioral skills model.

BACKGROUND: Dental caries is the most common chronic childhood disease. The prevalence of dental caries among 3-year-old infants and young children in China was as high as 50.8%. Caregivers played a crucial role in the dental care of infants and young children, as they could prevent dental problems in infants by adopting appropriate family dental care behavior. This study employed the Information-Motivation-Behavioral skills (IMB) model to explore the experiences of caregivers of Chinese infants and young children during the dental care process, which may inform and enhance future dental care

Can behavioural science be used to understand factors that influence the prescription choice for Parkinson's disease? A pan-European focus group study of clinicians' prescribing practice.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to establish a consensus on key factors that influence medication choices for Parkinson's disease and to identify the behavioural determinants of these factors using behavioural change theory as a theoretical lens. DESIGN: This qualitative study used the nominal group technique to conduct structured online focus group meetings. A facilitator guided participants to (1) individually generate a list of factors that influence their decision to prescribe, (2) collectively share these factors, (3) refine and clarify factors and (4) rank the most important factors. Laparoscopically confirmed endometriosis and anti-Müllerian hormone levels: Findings from the Nurses' Health Study II.

OBJECTIVE: Anti-Müllerian hormone is a reliable measure of ovarian reserve associated with menopause timing and fertility. Previous studies have observed that individuals with endometriosis have lower anti-Müllerian hormone levels than those without. However, sample sizes have been small and information is limited regarding the long-term influence of endometriosis on anti-Müllerian hormone levels among the general population, which may have important implications for menopause timing and chronic disease risk. METHODS: Among 1961 premenopausal women in the Nurses' Health Study II who provided
