Between gait and cognition: an exploratory mixed-methods study of cognitive-motor dual-task profiles and lived experience.

BACKGROUND: Cognitive-motor dual tasking is widely studied. However, the results remain heterogeneous depending on the type of tasks and individual psychological factors. To address this variability, dual-task cost (DTC) frameworks allow classification of behavioral profiles. This study aimed to propose a method designed to identify individual determinants of dual-task (DT) behavior by combining quantitative gait and cognitive measures with qualitative analyses of lived experience. METHODS: Thirty-three young healthy adults performed Raven's Progressive Matrices Test (RPMT) and treadmill walk

Refining acceptance and commitment therapy in daily life (ACT-DL) for clinical care: Optimization and mixed-methods evaluation of usability and implementation feasibility.

BACKGROUND: Blended care can enhance Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) by combining face-to-face sessions with digital tools. The ACT in Daily Life (ACT-DL) intervention integrates therapy sessions with a smartphone-based Ecological Momentary Intervention to promote psychological flexibility and to transfer ACT into daily life. AIM: This study describes an iterative optimization and evaluation of ACT-DL, in terms of feasibility (i.e., practical implementation), usability (i.e., ease of using ACT-DL), and integration into clinical practice by clinicians. METHODS: ACT-DL was optimized us

The Greek LYMPH-Q upper extremity module for breast cancer-related lymphedema: Translation and cultural adaptation.

INTRODUCTION: Breast cancer-related lymphedema is a chronic symptomatic condition associated with breast cancer treatment. It affects upper-extremity function and psychosocial well-being. Clinical assessments do not fully capture its multidimensional impact on quality of life, highlighting the need for patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). The LYMPH-Q Upper Extremity Module is a validated, lymphedema-specific PROM designed to evaluate these dimensions from the patient's perspective. However, a Greek version suitable for clinical and research use has not been available. METHODS: A Greek t

BACKGROUND: Metastatic breast cancer (MBC) remains a treatable, but incurable disease. Anti-cancer treatments and supportive therapies aim to control disease, prolong survival, ameliorate physical symptoms and improve quality of life (QoL). Currently, no validated MBC-specific patient-reported outcome measures exist, and existing tools may lack specific content and sensitivity to measure the impact of MBC. This study aims to develop a European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) module for MBC. METHODS: Development followed EORTC module guidelines. In phase 1, QoL issues

Challenges, care gaps, and coping mechanisms in patients with advanced cancer and their caregivers following palliative gastrointestinal surgery.

BACKGROUND: Palliative gastrointestinal surgery improves symptoms and health-related quality of life in patients who present with complications from advanced cancer. However, palliative surgery near the end-of-life is associated with significant physiological and psychological stressors for both patients and their caregivers. Yet literature on patient and caregiver centric narratives following surgery remains limited. OBJECTIVES: We aim to explore challenges, perceived care gaps, and coping mechanisms of patients with advanced cancer and their caregivers following palliative gastrointestinal

Clinical, social, and motility factors influencing transanal irrigation response in pediatric patients.

OBJECTIVES: Chronic constipation (CC) and fecal incontinence (FI) are significant problems for pediatric patients. Transanal irrigation (TAI) is a therapy that effectively relieves symptoms in patients with disorders of gut-brain interactions (DGBI) or organic CC/FI. This mixed-methods study aimed to identify predictive factors for TAI adherence and outcomes in pediatric patients. METHODS: Out of 151 screened patients, 63 were eligible for enrollment, with a 60.3% response rate and 97.3% survey completion. We analyzed adherence, symptom severity, quality of life (QOL), and manometry data from

Navigating Through the Caregiving Trajectory: A Qualitative Interview Study on the Challenges Encountered by Primary Caregivers When Caring for Adolescents Living with HIV.

Background/Objectives: Children and adolescents living with HIV (ALHIV) are among the most vulnerable groups affected by HIV and AIDS. Their vulnerability exposes them to several challenges, such as HIV-related stigma and/or interrupted academic activities due to health-related complications. Since they are still minors who cannot independently make decisions regarding their own lives, most of the challenges extend to their caregivers, who sometimes provide care and support under difficult psychological, social, and economic conditions. This study aimed to explore the lived experiences and cha

The aim of this sequential explanatory mixed-methods study was to examine the association between intimate partner violence, social support, and depression in WLHIV in central Uganda. METHODS: We sampled 215
