Premature sutural synostoses are currently being treated at the Craniofacial Center at the Department of Plastic Surgery, University of Göteborg. A leading principle has been to release tethered parts of the skull and the facial skeleton in order to let the expanding brain mould the skeletal parts to an acceptable position. This can be achieved within the first year of life. When operating in later stages, the skeletal parts are wired in a semi-static position by a single osteosynthesis, still allowing expansion by the growing brain.

A large proportion of congenital talipes equinovarus is resistant to correction by nonoperative means. The authors reviewed 54 feet which required surgical intervention, and the operative management utilized was a radical one-stage posteromedial release. Application of plastic surgical techniques has obviated problems of skin healing. Comparable to results reported by others, a good-to-excellent functional and cosmetic result can be expected in 90% of the cases. Careful attention to a well-designed postoperative regimen will frequently obviate the need for additional surgery.

The results of reconstructive surgery performed for obliteration of iliac arteries (8), femoro-popliteal segment (36) and brachial artery (2) in 40 patients are reported. 13 cases of ACS are presented: seven of them were identified as Apert's syndrome; two as Chotzen's syndrome; three as Carpenter's syndrome, and one as Pfeiffer's syndrome. These disorders have no known ethiology. However, it is necessary to look for diabetic antecedents and dermatogliphus alterations, both in the patient and the parents. An attempt to give an explanation of their hereditary penetrance is made. Frequency of associated abnormalities, mental retardation, therapeutics, prognosis, and recent encouraging results of plastic surgery of the face are reviewed.

Breast reconstruction is a common procedure that is performed in both community and academic settings. At Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH), both academic (AP) and community-based (CP) plastic surgeons perform breast reconstructions. We aim to compare practice patterns in breast reconstruction between two practice environments within a single institution. A retrospective chart review of all breast reconstructions at YNHH between 2013 and 2018 was performed. Data collected included demographics, preoperative history, and postoperative outcomes. Results were further subdivided by practice setting.

OBJECTIVE: To present management challenges, surgical technique, and outcome associated with penoscrotal reconstruction in patients with giant scrotal lymphedema in sub-Saharan Africa.
METHODS: A prospective study of all patients who had penoscrotal reconstruction for giant scrotal lymphedema at our university teaching hospital between January 2003 and December 2012 was carried out. OBJECTIVES: We describe the histopathology of ossicular grafts and implants so as to provide insight into factors that may influence functional results after surgery for chronic otitis media.
METHODS: Histopathologic observations were made on 56 cases: 50 surgical specimens and 6 temporal bone cases in which the graft was sectioned in situ.
