PURPOSE: To review the clinical presentation, disease severity, and surgical interventions of children with thyroid eye disease (TED) at a single institution over a 7-year period.
METHODS: Retrospective cohort study of children 0 to 18 years of age with a diagnosis of TED, seen at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from 2009 to 2016. Ophthalmic examination findings, neuroimaging study results, and ophthalmological management were recorded. t-Tests were used to test for statistical significance. METHODS: This is a consecutive case series of all T-SPOT.TB positive latent TB patients with presumed tuberculous uveitis managed with anti-tuberculous therapy (ATT) from 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2015. Patients with active TB or other known causes of uveitis, immunocompromised states and those followed up < 12 months were excluded. METHODS: In 2009, using multi-stage cluster sampling, 300 clusters of 40-64-year-olds were selected in Shahroud city, and all 5190 participants were invited to be re-examined in 5 years (2014). BACKGROUND: Autosomal dominant cone-rod dystrophy 7 (CORD7) has been previously associated with the RIM1 c.2459G>A (Arg820His) mutation. Cystoid macular oedema (CMO) is a rare feature of CORD and has not been described in CORD7. We report a patient who was heterozygous for the RIM1 mutation with bilateral CMO and who manifested a retinitis pigmentosa phenotype.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The patient's medical notes were retrospectively reviewed over an 18-month period. Genetic testing was performed by next generation sequencing for a panel of 176 genes associated with retinal dystrophy.
