Multiple System Atrophy is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by parkinsonism and autonomic dysfunction. Dysphagia and gastric dysmotility in advanced disease often compromise enteral medication absorption, limiting the effectiveness of standard oral or PEG-administered levodopa. Our experiments showed that papaverine inhibits sugar absorption in vivo as well as in vitro. Papaverine blocks the absorption of sugar both in healthy and diabetic animals. Oral administration of papaverine significantly reduced blood sugar level but after an hour blood sugar level showed tendency to come back to the initial levels that were characteristic for these diabetic dogs. We report on a 43-year-old patient undergoing a hysteroscopic myomectomy. After 80 minutes of operation, the patient developed laryngeal edema, requiring emergency tracheostomy. Hyponatremia (serum sodium 78 mmoL/L) indicated an irrigation fluid absorption. The patient developed shock, acute respiratory distress syndrome, acute renal failure, and diffuse intravascular coagulopathy. This article reports on the optical properties of Er3+ ions doped CdO-Bi2O3-B2O3 (CdBiB) glasses. The materials were characterized by optical absorption and emission spectra. Thiamine deficiency caused a marked decrease of intestinal alkaline phosphatase (al-Pase) activity, but had no effect on the Ca++-ATPase activity and Ca++-absorption in rats. The al-Pase activity was significantly decreased 1 h after oral administration of ethanol at 0.5 and 2.5 g/kg. In contrast, Mg++-, Ca++-and (Na+ + K+)-ATPase activities did not change after the administration of ethanol. In this work, the (Z)-3-(2-oxo-phenylethylidene)indoline-2-one (IsCh) chemosensor was successfully synthesized.
