The association between outdoor environmental factors in kindergartens and children's moderate-to-vigorous physical activity: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

OBJECTIVES: The kindergarten outdoor environment is considered a key factor influencing children's moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA). However, existing findings remain inconsistent, with varying criteria and no synthesis. METHODS: Associations came from studies employing two common measurement methods: accelerometry and direct observation. Fixed- or random-effects models were applied to calculate pooled correlation coefficients. A systematic search of six databases for studies published 2000-2024 identified 17 articles, and 9 met the inclusion criteria for meta-analysis. All outdo

Proposal of a Focused Self-Attention LLM Allowing to Interpret Fragmentary Requests from Visually Impaired People.

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been widely applied as an assistive technology for individuals with visual impairment (VI), providing various assistive technologies such as object recognition and obstacle detection. The accurate and powerful systems can be triggered through voice commands and thus significantly enhance the life experiences of users with VI. However, most assistive technologies simply accept a clear and exact command as input, ignoring the cognition and memory problems in blind people. If the users forget some parts of the full command (e.g., name of a targe

Peptide-mediated stabilization of Trichoderma reesei Cel7A for enhanced thermal stability in bioethanol production.

Improving the thermal stability of Trichoderma reesei Cel7A, a key cellulase for bioethanol production, is crucial for reducing costs and enhancing efficiency under industrial conditions. While Cel7A functions optimally at moderate temperatures (40-50 °C), its activity diminishes at higher ranges (50-80 °C). This study integrates Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations, Machine Learning (ML) predictions, and Molecular Mechanics/Generalized Born Surface Area (MM/GBSA) free energy calculations to develop a peptide-mediated stabilization strategy. Analysis of root mean square fluctuations (RMSF) at 3

MRI in Prostate Cancer Screening: A Review and Recommendations, From the AJR Special Series on Screening.

Traditional PSA-based screening for prostate cancer (PCa) is challenged by an unfavorable benefit-to-harm ratio from underdiagnosis of clinically significant cancers, overdiagnosis of indolent cancers, and unnecessary biopsies, despite demonstrated reductions in PCa-associated mortality. Inclusion of MRI in screening algorithms helps address these limitations by improving risk stratification of men suspected of having PCa and by enabling targeted biopsies. The impact of MRI-based strategies on screening's benefit-to-harm ratio can be objectively assessed using ratios reflecting clinically sign

Sustained and Efficient Ethanol Oxidation by Tethering Tunable N-Donors Onto Integrated MXene/Pd-Electrodes.

The practical development of ethanol fuel cells as a future energy technology is currently set back by fundamental roadblocks (low cycling stability) and design shortcomings, e.g., poorly-defined active sites and underexplored electrode integration strategies. Here, a rational design of 3D layered integrated electrodes is introduced for Pd-catalysed ethanol oxidation, in which chemically grafted pyrrolic or picolinic amide linkers are employed to co-anchor Pd nanoparticles on an MXene support via a "hand-in-hand" molecular coordination mode. This approach leads to good directional exposure of

Pulmonary Embolism Associated with Olaparib in BRCA2-Mutated Prostate Cancer: A Case Report.

Olaparib, a poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor approved for treating metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) with BRCA mutations, has significant clinical benefits. However, evidence suggests an increased risk of venous thromboembolism, including pulmonary embolism (PE), particularly in patients with PC. However, no case reports of olaparib-associated PE in mCRPC have been published. Here, we report the case of a 70-year-old man with mCRPC harboring a BRCA2 mutation, who developed PE during olaparib therapy. Diagnostic evaluations included contrast-enhanced computed

Persistent Hyperschematia With Over-Generation Following Recovery From Unilateral Spatial Neglect: A Case Report.

Hyperschematia is characterized by excessive representation of left-sided space and typically improves alongside unilateral spatial neglect (USN). The role of white matter disconnection, particularly involving ventral visual pathways, in the persistence of hyperschematia remains poorly understood. We report a case of a 44-year-old right-handed man who developed USN following a right putaminal hemorrhage. While his USN symptoms improved with rehabilitation, he exhibited persistent hyperschematia characterized by a unique "over-generation" phenomenon, where he produced excessive elements in draw

MRI for Prostate Cancer Local Staging: AJR Expert Panel Narrative Review.

The incremental value of multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) in prostate cancer staging has been increasingly recognized, with the accumulated literature indicating a central role of MRI findings not only in detecting cancer but also in guiding local and systemic management. However, despite growing adoption of mpMRI for prostate cancer staging, no universally accepted framework for MRI-based staging exists. Additionally, proposed scoring systems for extraprostatic extension (EPE) remain outside of the PI-RADS structure, and reproducibility of MRI-based staging across centers is variable. This AJR Exp

Modeling the Endothelial Glycocalyx Post-Pneumonectomy in a 3D Fluidic Chip - An Approach to Fabricating a Vascular-based Organ-on-Chip System.

Endothelial glycocalyx (GCX), a carbohydrate-rich layer coating the luminal surface of endothelial cells, plays a pivotal role in regulating cellular responses to stimuli. It is comprised of transmembrane proteins serving as mechanotransducers for cellular responses. While it naturally maintains its structure and stability under homeostatic conditions, exposure to high-shear stress can induce damage with numerous consequences. General shear stress effects on endothelial cells have been explored, but the extent and impact of shear stress on vascular systems, specifically post-pneumonectomy, hav

Efficient Free Energies from a Simplified Electrostatic Embedding QM/MM Approach Based on Electrostatic Potential Fitted Operators.

Periodic boundary condition (PBC)-adapted formulations of quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) methods allow for the accurate computation of free energies, provided there is sufficient phase-space sampling. In this work, we develop a robust and efficient QM/MM approach based on electrostatic potential fitted (ESPF) charge operators. The method combines smooth particle-mesh Ewald summation to describe QM-MM electrostatic interactions and the Ewald pair potential to treat long-range QM-QM interactions. It is fully compatible with both ab initio DFT and semiempirical DFTB QM/MM framework
