BACKGROUND: The presence of lipocalin-like prostaglandin D synthase (L-PGDS), a dominantly brain derived protein in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) with a low concentration in serum, in the subretinal fluid (SRF) of detached retinas, has not been reported.
