Individuals with germline E-cadherin (CDH1) mutations are at high risk of developing diffuse gastric cancer (GC) and prophylactic total gastrectomy (PTG) represents the only life-saving treatment. We reviewed all PTGs reported in literature associated with CDH1 germline mutations. A total of 224 PTGs were reported. CONCLUSION: There is no universally accepted definition of CAL in the Netherlands and China. Diagnosis of CAL based on clinical manifestations remains a point of discussion in both countries. Dutch surgeons are more likely to report 'subclinical' leaks as CAL, which partly explains the higher reported Dutch CAL rates.

Myotonic Dystrophy type 1 multisystem involvement leads to functional impairment with an increased risk of falling. This multinational study estimates the prevalence of falls and fall-associated fractures.
