Mindful of yourself: the initial evaluation of an online health promotion programme for university students.

AIM: As students are vulnerable to mental disorders, interventions for promoting mental health and well-being are urgently needed. Third-wave behavioural therapy programmes (e.g., ACT and MSC) have shown promising results in addressing these issues. The online health promotion programme SAM was developed in a multistage process using a participatory design with students at the University of Klagenfurt, Austria. The name SAM was derived from the German terms for the three main components of programme content: self-care (Selbstfürsorge), mindfulness (Achtsamkeit), and self-compassion (Mitgefühl)

Evaluation of Educational Activity About Preeclampsia With Traditional Midwives in the Remote Petén Department of Guatemala.

INTRODUCTION: The Guatemalan Ministry of Health has offered traditional midwives (TMs) training programs in Spanish since 1955. Many Guatemalan TMs speak indigenous dialects, with limited reading and writing skills, and may not fully comprehend this information. Additionally, TMs have previously requested instruction on how to measure blood pressure in order to improve outcomes for women developing preeclampsia. Prompt diagnosis of preeclampsia would enable TMs to make more timely decisions for transport to a hospital. The purpose of this quality improvement project therefore was to develop cu

Sleep disorders among patients suffering from road traffic injuries in an urban setting of Vietnam: an exploratory study.

Sleep quality is an important indicator of treatment outcome for patients with traffic accident injuries. In Vietnam, the impacts of injury on sleep status are usually amplified in urban areas due to disproportionate distribution of mental care services between the city and less developed settings. Our study investigated deterioration in sleep quality and identified associated demographic factors among traffic injury patients in an small urban setting of Vietnam. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 408 patients in one provincial hospital and five district hospitals in Thai Binh, Vietna

Determinants of access of frail, community-residing older adults to geriatricians in Ontario.

OBJECTIVES: Little is known about determinants of access to community-based geriatricians. The Geriatric 5Ms™ describe geriatricians' core competencies and inform referrals to specialists for older adults with complex needs. We explored the association of the Geriatric 5Ms™ and other characteristics with outpatient access to geriatricians by home care (HC) clients. METHODS: This was a population-based, retrospective cohort study of frail community-dwelling HC clients (≥60 years) with complex needs (n = 196,444). Health assessment information was linked to health services data in Ontario, Cana

The Antenatal Corticosteroids Trial (ACT)'s explanations for neonatal mortality - a secondary analysis.

BACKGROUND: The Antenatal Corticosteroid Trial assessed the feasibility, effectiveness, and safety of a multifaceted intervention to increase the use of antenatal corticosteroids (ACS) in mothers at risk of preterm birth at all levels of care in low and middle-income countries. The intervention effectively increased the use of ACS but was associated with an overall increase in neonatal deaths. We aimed to explore plausible pathways through which this intervention increased neonatal mortality. METHODS: We conducted a series of secondary analyses to assess whether ACS or other components of the

Turnover intention and associated factors among employees of regional and city health regulatory bodies in Ethiopia: a cross-sectional study.

INTRODUCTION: High employee turnover has become a significant global challenge, especially within the healthcare sector. The most significant indicator of employee turnover is turnover intention, which reflects an employee's inclination to leave their current job. This issue is particularly concerning within health regulatory bodies, which are entrusted with upholding healthcare standards and ensuring the delivery of quality care. Nevertheless, research assessing turnover intention within this group remains absent in Ethiopia. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess turnover intention and assoc

Impact of three sequential orthogeriatric care models on time to surgery after hip fracture: a retrospective study.

BACKGROUND: In hip fracture, the interval between admission and surgery, referred to as time to surgery (TTS) influences prognosis. The main objectives of trauma management in older patients regardless of the orthogeriatric care model is to reduce the TTS between 24 and 48 h to improve outcomes. Our study aimed to assess the impact of orthogeriatric care models on TTS and patient outcomes in older patients with hip fracture. METHODS: Observational, retrospective, monocentric study divided into three sequential periods corresponding to three models of care implemented in a French Orthogeriatri

Developing a dynamic HIV transmission model for 6 U.S. cities: An evidence synthesis.

BACKGROUND: Dynamic HIV transmission models can provide evidence-based guidance on optimal combination implementation strategies to treat and prevent HIV/AIDS. However, these models can be extremely data intensive, and the availability of good-quality data characterizing regional microepidemics varies substantially within and across countries. We aim to provide a comprehensive and transparent description of an evidence synthesis process and reporting framework employed to populate and calibrate a dynamic, compartmental HIV transmission model for six US cities. METHODS: We executed a mixed-met
