Intrathecal morphine dose optimization in robotic-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy: a dual-center cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Optimized perioperative analgesia is a critical component of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathways in robotic-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy (RALH). In high-volume robotic programs, predictable pain control may influence early mobilization, postoperative stability, and discharge planning. This study evaluated the analgesic efficacy and safety of two low-dose intrathecal morphine (ITM) regimens (0.10 mg vs. 0.15 mg) in patients undergoing RALH. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective dual-center cohort study including 100 women who received spinal anesthesia with 0.10-0

Robotic dissection of the left internal mammary artery from the left upper lobe in a lobectomy case.

Robotic-assisted lung resection in patients with prior coronary artery bypass grafting presents unique technical challenges, particularly when the left internal mammary artery is adherent to the left upper lobe. Injury to this graft can result in catastrophic myocardial ischaemia. This video tutorial describes a robotic technique for safe identification and dissection of the left internal mammary artery during left upper lobectomy. The case involves a 78-year-old man with early-stage squamous cell carcinoma of the left upper lobe and a history of coronary artery bypass grafting using the left

A lightweight YOLO-WRCS model for peanut pod detection in seed-preserving peanut shelling robots.

Low-damage seed-preserving peanut shelling robots require real-time recognition of peanut pod quality and orientation to guide sorting and shelling while reducing seed damage. We proposed YOLO-WRCS, a lightweight YOLOv12n-based detector integrating RDWConv, SimAM, CARAFE, and Wise IoU. A dataset of 4,201 images covering five peanut pod classes was used for training and testing. The model was evaluated through ablation experiments, comparison with mainstream detectors, embedded deployment, and cross-variety validation.YOLO-WRCS achieved Precision, Recall, mAP50, and mAP50-95 values of 87.7%, 87.

A Tremor Suppression Method for the Master-Follower Surgical Robot Manipulator Based on Kalman Filter Algorithm.

BACKGROUND: Master follower surgical robotic systems are widely used in invasive procedures but remain vulnerable to end effector tremor transmitted from the operator's physiological tremor, reducing precision. METHODS: Physiological tremor was characterised with a three-dimensional optical motion capture system and integrated into master follower control strategy enhanced with Kalman filter based tremor suppression algorithm. The method was validated on a custom platform using 24 predefined motion trajectories executed via a force feedback haptic master and robotic slave manipulator. RESULT

Robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy using the Toumai system: initial single-center experience in Morocco.

Robotic surgery has recently emerged in Morocco, mainly in the urological field. We evaluated the feasibility, safety, and early outcomes of robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) using the new Toumai MT-1000 surgical system in a single-center experience. We prospectively included 132 consecutive patients who underwent RARP, between December 2024 and October 2025, with at least 3 months of follow-up. All procedures were performed by a single experienced surgeon using a standardized transperitoneal anterior approach. Perioperative, pathological, and early functional outcomes were analyzed.

Differences in Urodynamic Findings of Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy Before and 2 Years After Surgery.

BACKGROUND: Numerous studies have investigated changes in urinary function following robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP); however, most studies have primarily focused on identifying predictors of postoperative urinary incontinence. This study aimed to evaluate bladder function and lower urinary tract symptoms through urodynamics examined before and 2 years after RARP. METHODS: This single-center, retrospective study included patients who underwent RARP for prostate cancer between April 2014 and April 2022. All participants who met our criteria completed questionnaires and underwent ur

Medicolegal aspects of robotic-assisted surgery: litigation trends, complication risks, and human factors interventions.

Robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) sees over six million procedures performed annually. Malpractice claims involving RAS increased by more than 250% between the periods 2006-2013 and 2014-2021 [1]. Understanding the legal landscape, risk profile, and evidence-based mitigation strategies is critical for all stakeholders. This scoping review aimed to: (1) map medicolegal cases involving RAS; (2) quantify complication incidence (3) characterise general and procedure-specific risks; and (4) synthesise interventions capable of reducing adverse events and litigation exposure. A structured search of PubM

Laparoscopic vs. robotic cholecystectomy for patients with cirrhosis: A propensity score-matched, single center analysis.

Patients with cirrhosis have increased rates of gallstone formation. While laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is known to be safe in cirrhosis, perioperative morbidity remains higher than the general population. Prior work has suggested that robotic cholecystectomy (RC) may improve outcomes for patients with cirrhosis. This was a retrospective propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis of patients with cirrhosis undergoing cholecystectomy within an academic health system between January 2015 and December 2025. The primary outcome was rate of Clavien-Dindo grade IIIa or higher complication. Demogra

Robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy with venous resection and reconstruction: a systematic review of perioperative, vascular, oncological and survival outcomes.

Robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy with venous resection and reconstruction (RPD-VR) is one of the most technically challenging procedures in hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery. While acceptance of robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy is growing, the safety, feasibility, and oncologic adequacy of combined portal vein (PV) and/or superior mesenteric vein (SMV) resection remain incompletely defined. A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus and the Cochrane Library were searched from inception of the databases to June 2026. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was used to

Perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis in robotic-assisted ventral hernia repair: a propensity score-matched analysis.

BACKGROUND: Routine antibiotic prophylaxis is widely used in the treatment of ventral hernias, although high-quality evidence supporting its necessity in modern minimally invasive procedures with extraperitoneal mesh placement is limited. Growing concerns regarding antimicrobial stewardship warrant a reassessment of this practice. METHODS: We conducted an ambidirectional cohort study with a historical (retrospective) control group of consecutive adult patients who underwent an rVHR (eTEP, TAPP, or eTEP/TAR) between June 2023 and December 2025 at a single tertiary center. Patients treated befo

Robotic-Assisted Thoracoscopic Circumferential Resection of Congenital Esophageal Stenosis in Under 10 kg Patient.

Congenital esophageal stenosis is a rare and heterogenous malformation often associated with esophageal atresia (EA). Failure of conservative endoscopic treatment leads to surgery. Transthoracic approach is rarely advocated due to the peridiaphragmatic localization of the stricture. Robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) may offer enhanced precision in confined spaces; its application in patients under 10 kg is still considered a challenge. We report the first description of RATS resection of cartilaginous congenital stenosis and esophagoesophagostomy in a 9.5 kg patient. A female patie
