[Disorders of the mother-child relationship in newborn infants with low birth weight].

The influence of premature birth or intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) on the mother-child relationship has been studied in 80 children with birth-weight below 2000 g, treated in the Neonatology Unit of the Pediatric Department of Lausanne University. 40 children with birth-weight over 2500 g and without perinatal complications born in the Obstetrical Department of the same hospital were used as controls. The 80 infants with low birth-weight presented only minor neonatal disturbances and showed later on a normal psychomotor development. The mother-child relationship was evaluated by free a

Design and expert validation of the OEPR learning model for sea turtle conservation educational tourism in Pacitan, Indonesia.

BACKGROUND: Sea turtle conservation sites can function as authentic learning environments, but educational visits frequently remain informal, knowledge-centred, and disconnected from sustained participation. This study developed and established the initial content validity of an experiential learning model for conservation-based educational tourism at Taman Beach, Pacitan, Indonesia. METHODS: An educational research-and-development study combined a preliminary needs assessment, document and literature analysis, field observation, stakeholder interviews, model design, and expert validation. Predicting negative symptoms: a novel scale for assessing anticipatory cognitive mechanisms in psychosis.

INTRODCUTION: Negative symptoms are a central feature of the schizophrenia spectrum and also appear subclinically in healthy individuals, being associated with poor functional outcomes. Although clinician-rated measures remain the gold standard, self-report tools offer efficiency and a direct insight into subjective experiences. OBJECTIVE: This study presents the development and validation of the Negative Symptoms Anticipation Scale (NSAS), a novel self-report instrument designed to assess anticipatory cognitions related to negative symptoms. METHOD: In a pilot study, an initial 28-item vers

The association between family capital and physical exercise among young and middle-aged adults: the potential mediating pathway of intergenerational transmission of education.

INTRODUCTION: Against a backdrop of increasing attention to health inequities, behavioral differences in physical exercise among young and middle-aged adults should be examined through structural factors such as family capital and the intergenerational transmission of education. METHODS: This study uses data from the 2023 China General Social Survey and selects a sample of 2,394 adults aged 18-60. An ordered probit model tests the statistical association between family capital and exercise frequency, the bootstrap method verifies the indirect association of intergenerational educational trans

Futures-Oriented Directions in Sustainable Design for Senior Housing: A Scientometric Analysis of Research on Energy Load Reduction and Occupant Comfort (1980-2025).

In light of the accelerating global trend of population ageing and the pressing need to reduce energy loads within the building sector, the design of housing for older adults from a sustainability perspective has emerged as a significant interdisciplinary challenge. However, existing literature has not systematically integrated two critical domains: the physiological and psychological needs of older adults and the architectural approaches that can effectively reduce energy consumption. This study aims to identify conceptual gaps and map the intellectual structure of this field through a scient

Rannasangpei and its constituent crocin-1 ameliorate valproic acid-induced autism-like behaviors accompanied by reduced oxidative stress and neuroinflammation.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by impaired social interaction and repetitive behaviors, with increasing evidence implicating immune dysregulation, oxidative stress, and altered transcriptional regulation. This study investigated the pharmacological effects of Rannasangpei (RNSP), a classical Tibetan formulation, and its active constituent crocin-1 in a valproic acid (VPA)-induced mouse model of ASD. Behavioral tests demonstrated that RNSP and crocin-1 markedly reduced VPA-induced repetitive behaviors and improved social interaction. Biochemical a

Mapping the mortality niche of chronic lower respiratory diseases complicated by respiratory failure: a multiscale spatial analysis of environmental and social drivers.

BACKGROUND: Chronic lower respiratory diseases complicated by respiratory failure as a multiple cause of death, denoted as RF-CLRD, represent a critical public health challenge with significant spatial heterogeneity across the United States. Although bioclimatic factors, air pollution, and social vulnerability are known determinants of respiratory health, traditional global models assume these risk factors operate uniformly across space, obscuring their spatial non-stationarity and region-specific impacts. METHODS: We utilized county-level data from the contiguous United States (2010-2019) to

Predictive modeling approaches for Alzheimer's disease diagnosis through neuroimaging techniques.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the brain's neurodegenerative diseases. It is distinguished by a progressive mental, social, and behavioral deterioration. It affects the person's capacity, thinking, attention, reasoning, social behavior and functionality to achieve independence. The classical diagnosis process of AD consists of variety of neuroimaging scan approaches such as computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography. Classical cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers such as amyloid-β₄₂, total tau, and phosphorylated tau are used in conjunction with neuroima

Validation of the Social Mistrust Scale in non-clinical and clinical samples of children aged 8-14 years living in Italy: convergence with anxiety and depression.

BACKGROUND: Paranoia exists in the general population, both in adults and in children, and is a key feature of schizotypy and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. Attempts to develop child-appropriate tools to assess childhood suspiciousness and its correlation with developmental psychopathology are underdeveloped but crucial. AIMS: This study examines the prevalence and structure of childhood mistrust and its correlations with internalising and externalising problems in non-clinical and clinical samples using a newly validated Italian Social Mistrust Scale (SMS). METHODS: Children aged 8-14 ye

Validation and Comparison of Three Different Versions of the Drinking Motives Questionnaire: A Network Analysis Approach.

INTRODUCTION: Alcohol is widely used but motives for consumption vary. Since drinking motives are proximal predictors of initiation and escalation of alcohol use, accurate measurement of these motives is crucial. The aim of this study was to assess the psychometric properties - including factor structure, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability - of the 12-, 18-, and original 20-item versions of the Drinking Motives Questionnaire (DMQ). Additionally, this study aimed to examine the associations between drinking motives and alcohol use outcomes using network analysis, providing insigh

The Hidden Complexity of Virtual Mindfulness-Based Group Medical Visits: Comfort, Challenge, and the Influence of Social Determinants of Health.

BACKGROUND: Chronic low back pain is globally prevalent and associated with significant impairment in quality of life. Furthermore, people from historically marginalized communities are less likely to receive treatment, contributing to health inequities. Group mindfulness-based interventions improve pain and function, and virtual delivery has been demonstrated to be feasible. Little is known about how participants experience the virtual delivery of mindfulness-based interventions, especially participants from historically marginalized communities. OBJECTIVE: This study explored participant pe

Children's early signs and developmental trajectories of psychotic-like experiences.

INTRODUCTION: Children who experience persistent psychotic-like experiences (PLEs) are at a higher risk of developing psychotic disorder later in life. The developmental trajectories of PLEs are influenced by various factors. Therefore, it is important to identify early characteristics that can distinguish and predict between different developmental trajectories of PLEs. METHODS: Using PLEs scores from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) data across three waves, we categorized participants into five distinct PLEs trajectories groups: persistent group (n = 47), remitting group (n

Parent-child interaction at age 5 months: genetic and environmental contributions and associations with later socio-communicative development.

BACKGROUND: Characteristics of parent-child interaction (PCI) early in life have been associated with later development in the child. Twin studies can help to disentangle child contributions to parent-child interaction, for example, by assessing the influence of the child's genetics on his/her social environment, which includes parental behaviour. METHODS: Infant twins from a community sample [354 monozygotic (MZ), 268 same-sex dizygotic (DZ)] were assessed in terms of PCI at age 5 months. We used the classical twin design to map the aetiology of several parent and child PCI scales and their

Assessing distinguishable social skills in medical admission: does construct-driven development solve validity issues of situational judgment tests?

BACKGROUND: Social skills are important for future physicians and are therefore increasingly considered in selection processes. One economic assessment method from which different social skills can be inferred are Situational Judgment Tests (SJTs) in which applicants are asked to rate behavioral responses in context-relevant situations. However, traditional SJTs have so far failed to distinctively measure specified constructs. To address this shortcoming in the medical admission context, we applied a construct-driven approach of SJT development in which test development was deductively guided

Social capital II: determinants of economic connectedness.

Low levels of social interaction across class lines have generated widespread concern1-4 and are associated with worse outcomes, such as lower rates of upward income mobility4-7. Here we analyse the determinants of cross-class interaction using data from Facebook, building on the analysis in our companion paper7. We show that about half of the social disconnection across socioeconomic lines-measured as the difference in the share of high-socioeconomic status (SES) friends between people with low and high SES-is explained by differences in exposure to people with high SES in groups such as scho

Assessing Family Social Support for Functional Autonomy and Dependence in Pain: A Psychometric Study.

Assessing family supportive responses to pain behaviors is paramount, as these may help or hinder chronic pain (CP) adjustment. Current self-report measures of pain-specific family supportive dynamics are scarce, covering a limited range of responses. To address this gap, this paper aimed at the psychometric validation of a (revised) novel measure - the Informal Social Support for Autonomy and Dependence in Pain Inventory (ISSADI-PAIN). Three-hundred and three adults participated in this study (53.3% women; Mage = 49.31), 53.5% with current CP, 20.1% with acute pain (AP) in the previous week a

Using the big data approach to clarify the structure of restricted and repetitive behaviors across the most commonly used autism spectrum disorder measures.

BACKGROUND: Restricted and repetitive behaviors (RRB) in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) encompass several distinct domains. However, commonly used general ASD measures provide broad RRB scores rather than assessing separate RRB domains. The main objective of the current investigation was to conduct a psychometric evaluation of the ability of the Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS-2), the Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ), the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) to capture different RRB constructs. METHODS: Exploratory Structur
