The potential role of shear wave elastography (SWE) in prostate cancer (PCa) remains unclear. We systematically searched PubMed, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library databases to identify correlated studies up to Dec 2024. We report a 52-year-old patient referred for evaluation of abnormal liver tests, with extensive etiological workup negative. Abdominal CT and MRI revealed hypertrophy of the left hepatic lobe, nodular liver contours, and ascites (SAAG 1.7; total protein 1.8 g/dL). Upper endoscopy showed no stigmata of portal hypertension. A dual interventional radiology procedure was performed. Transjugular liver biopsy (LB) (18G) was non-diagnostic, and hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) was normal (HVPG 3 mmHg; wedged hepatic venous pressure [WHVP] 13 mmHg; free hepatic venous pressure [FHRVP] 10 mmHg).

Scars and stretch marks are extremely common. For scars, evidence of alterations of the dermal and hypodermic layers is known, while for stretch marks, less data are available, and they are considered purely aesthetic conditions. The intra- and inter-subject variability of the skin makes the comparison between these two particularly complex. This study presents the case of a 54-year-old man who had both stretch marks and a surgical scar on his abdomen. We performed ultrasound and elastosonographic investigations for both to analyse the structural alteration of the skin and subcutaneous layers.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of two-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D-SWE) with a propagation map in evaluating the degree of hepatic fibrosis in patients with liver tumors before resection.
METHODS AND MATERIALS: From January 2020 to April 2021, 128 patients with liver tumors were prospectively enrolled, including 20 benign liver tumors and 108 malignant liver tumors. 2D-SWE with a propagation map technology was used to measure the stiffness of liver parenchyma 2 cm away from the tumor. The median value of five measurements was used in this study.
