The purpose of this investigation was to develop an optimized hinged external fixator for the primary treatment of dislocated, intra-articular calcaneus fractures with associated soft tissue damage. To this end, a calcaneus model was made out of a polyurethane block, and a steel cylinder served as the ankle joint and was connected to a synthetic model of the tibia via a metal clamp. Between November 1981 and November 1984, eight patients with comminuted radial head fractures were treated with open reduction and internal fixation. Sixty-six (70 per cent) of 94 patients with fracture of the lumbar spine (L2-L5), treated at the Central Hospital of Tampere in 1968--1975, were seen after an average interval of 5 years and 4 months. This study systematically investigates the influence of quenching (850-910 °C) and tempering (160-280 °C) temperatures on the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of a novel low-alloy ultra-high-strength martensitic steel (UHSMS). OBJECTIVE: To explore a minimally invasive technique with hydroxylapatite artificial bone to repair the orbital blowout fracture.
METHODS: Twenty-one cases of orbital blowout fracture from March 2008 to April 2010 were enrolled. And the fractures were repaired with a bridge of hydroxylapatite artificial bone under a nasal endoscope. During a regular 6-month follow-up, anatomic and functional recovery was evaluated.

The authors present the case of a 15-year-old Jehovah's Witness with a hematocrit level of 19% who was 4 months pregnant and had a two-level … urgical cases. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first two-level spondyloptotic cervical spine fracture dislocation to be reported in the literature. The added complexities of the case, given that the patient was an anemic, adolescent, pregnant Jehovah's Witness who refused blood transfusion, also appear to be unprecedented.

Nineteen consecutive cases of posttraumatic arthrofibrosis of the elbow secondary to a fracture or fracture-dislocation and treated with arthroscopic debridement and manipulation were retrospectively reviewed.
