Classification of hoarding and comorbid neuropsychiatric symptoms.

BACKGROUND: Psychiatric comorbidity and self-reported cognitive dysfunction are common among individuals with hoarding disorder (HD). However, common patterns of co-occurring neuropsychiatric symptoms, and their potential impact on the clinical manifestation of hoarding, including functional impairment, are not well-established. METHODS: Latent class analysis (LCA) was used to identify and characterize distinct neuropsychiatric symptom subgroups among 7606 adult internet-based research participants who reported experiencing social impairment due to household clutter. An additional 1129 partic

Physical Activity Awareness and Understanding of Treatment Protection Among People With Haemophilia and Their Caregivers in Central Europe.

BACKGROUND: Physical activity is now considered generally beneficial for persons with haemophilia (PWH). However, the specific type and extent of activity and its impact on quality of life (QoL) and bleed protection during exercise is under-researched. This knowledge gap should significantly impact PWH's ability to manage their condition optimally. OBJECTIVE: To explore levels of physical activity and understand bleed protection during exercise among PWH as part of the Liberate Life project. METHODS: A web-based survey was conducted across eight European countries between August and Septembe

Rumor management in public health: a system dynamics analysis based on social trust.

BACKGROUND: With the rapid development of digital society and the Internet, public health systems are increasingly confronted with novel phenomena and emergent challenges originating from cyberspace. Single medical interventions often prove insufficient to address the complex and multifaceted nature of contemporary health issues, necessitating the integration of interdisciplinary expertise. METHODS: This study focuses on the propagation mechanisms of online rumors during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting their intricate interactions with social trust. Using a system dyna

Influence of Smartphone Usage on development of Sexuality among Late Adolescent Boys in Health Sciences Colleges of South India.

BACKGROUND: Better affordability of data plans and an increase in "budget" smartphones have resulted in an exponential rise in internet and smartphone users. The ease of access to sexually explicit material (SEM) coupled with adolescents' impulsivity makes them prone to excessive SEM exposure and may affect the development of sexuality via the perceived realism of such content. This study was done to study the influence between problematic smartphone usage (PSU) and sexuality development among late adolescent boys. METHODS: One hundred and thirty-four adolescents aged 18-19 years, studying in

Research Progress of Physiotherapy on Female Stress Urinary Incontinence: A Bibliometric Analysis.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is characterized by the involuntary leakage of urine on physical activities or sneezing or coughing. Despite a considerable number of studies on physiotherapy for female SUI have been published, a bibliometric analysis that comprehensively quantifies and summarizes these studies is still lacking. Thus, the aim of this study is to summarize the current state of this area based on bibliometrics and to suggest future research trends. METHODS: We searched literature in the Web of Science database from the inception to 11 August 2024 and ex

METHODS: A multi- country, internet-based survey was administered to patients(N=195) with R/R FL and treating physicians (N=300) from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Brazil, and Japan. Fear not: Combining digital and virtual reality interventions for the treatment of social anxiety disorder - a randomized controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Social anxiety disorder (SAD) poses a significant mental health challenge. Despite cognitive behavior therapy being the first-line treatment for SAD, its accessibility remains limited. Internet- and mobile-based interventions (IMIs) offer approaches to enhance accessibility and reduce waiting times. As part of this, some recent approaches have incorporated virtual reality (VR) to enable behavioral experiments and exposure. This pilot study aimed to explore the efficacy of an IMI, including CBT interventions via smartphone apps and VR to alleviate the severity of SAD symptoms. ME

Stigma Management Strategies of Autistic Social Media Users.

BACKGROUND: Research on stigma management strategies in autism relies on questionnaires or experiments, leading to a gap in understanding of how to identify the strategies in naturalistic interactions. The identification of individual (adapting minority group characteristics) and collective (positively redeveloping the in-group) stigma management strategies in online communication is important for understanding how to improve the quality of social media experiences for autistic users. METHODS: Using linguistic analysis and engaging with ethnographic perspectives on relationship management, th

Predictors of Treatment Success of Psychotherapy in Functional Disorders: A Systematic Review of the Literature.

OBJECTIVE: Functional disorders (FDs) benefit from psychotherapy. However, the determinants predicting their efficacy remain largely unexplored. METHODS: A systematic literature review was conducted. PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane collaboration and grey literature were screened from inception to November 2024. Randomized controlled trials on predictors of success of psychotherapy for FDs (e.g., somatoform disorders, irritable bowel syndrome [IBS], chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis [CFS/ME], fibromyalgia [FM]) in adults (i.e., ≥ 18 years of age) were included. BACKGROUND: There remains a significant gap in understanding what nulliparous (NP) women desire in terms of treatment for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) before pregnancy and childbirth. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess the perceptions of young NP women without POP regarding various POP treatments and identify their preferred treatment options to enhance quality in nursing practice. METHODS: This study employed a qualitative descriptive design involving thirteen young NP women at the Faculty of Medicine, Ovidius University from Constanța, Romania. Effects of smartphone-based hypnotic intervention for undergraduate students' shyness during the COVID-19 pandemic: A randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, university students have been exposed to a heightened vulnerability towards developing psychological issues, such as psychological distress and shyness. Internet-based interventions offer a convenient avenue for scalability, thus prompting the development of a smartphone-based hypnotic intervention aimed at addressing shyness among university students. OBJECTIVE: We devised an innovative smartphone-based hypnotic intervention called mHypnosis to examine its impact on shyness among undergraduate students. Furthermore, we aimed to investi

Mindfulness programs for problematic usage of the internet: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Problematic usage of the internet (PUI) is an umbrella term for a range of uncontrolled, excessive, and potentially harmful online behaviors. Recently, numerous studies have examined the potential of mindfulness programs (MPs) for reducing PUI. We conducted a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis in this emerging field. METHODS: We searched eight databases from inception to October 18, 2022, with no language restrictions. We included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and nonrandomized trials (NRTs). The primary outcome was change in self-reported PUI, the secondary
