Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT), which usually affects young adults and children, is a solid neoplastic mesenchymal proliferation composed of myofibroblastic spindle cells admixed with inflammatory infiltrates. Periampullary carcinoma (PC) is classified into intestinal and pancreatobiliary subtypes using morphology and immunohistochemistry (IHC). Overexpression of S100A4 has been linked to worse patient survival in several malignant neoplasms, but its significance in SIAC has not been determined.

Cyclophosphamide is one of several clinically important cancer drugs whose therapeutic efficacy is due in part to their ability to stimulate antitumor immune responses. BACKGROUND: Adhesions are the most important cause of intestinal obstruction. Approximately 25% of surgical admissions for acute abdominal conditions are due to intestinal obstruction. Three female infants, aged 13, 7 and 18 mo respectively with acquired ileal atresia induced by adhesive small bowel obstruction are reported. Case 1 was diagnosed with urachal cyst and cyst excision was performed when she was 7-mo-old. Case 2 was diagnosed with mesenteric cyst and cyst excision was performed by laparoscopic-assisted procedure when she was 3-mo-old. Case 3 had no history of abdominal operation previously. A 73-year-old woman with a history of multiple abdominal surgery and sigmoid diverticulosis presented with severe constipation refractory to conservative management. As a result, she had developed food aversion and cachexia. Patient opted for laparotomy and defunctioning ileostomy to improve quality of life. At laparotomy, extensive diverticulae involving the small and large bowels were identified. Defunctioning ileostomy was performed. The patient regained her quality of life and reinstituted normal diet. Histology revealed marked serosal fibrosis and pulsion diverticulae.

Vasculopathy in patients with neurofibromatosis-1 are rare but serious and have potentially life-threatening complications. It mostly involves the thoracic, abdominal and intracranial vessels. In this case study we describe the first reported case of spontaneous intestinal haematoma in a young male patient. The first episode occurred at the age of 30, following which 2 years later the second episode was noted at the same anatomical site, which was spontaneous without any inciting event.

OBJECTIVES: The authors aimed to investigate the effect of β-Glucan on healing of an experimental left-sided colon anastomosis model.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Twenty adult male Wistar albino rats were randomized into two groups which had colonic transection and end-to-end anastomosis.
