A Cu(II) complex, that is, [Cu(CNC-B3)(IM-B7)](PF6)2, 1, containing CNC-B3 (L2) = CNC-pincer-vitamin B3 and IM-B7 (L3) = 1H-imidazole-1-methanamine-vitamin B7 conjugates, was developed as a potential chemotherapeutic agent for breast cancer cell lines. The Cu(II) complex brings about a remarkable in vitro cytotoxicity in comparison with cisplatin and tamoxifen against MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cancer cell lines. BACKGROUND: Glioblastoma multiform (GBM), a malignant brain tumour, has a very often poor prognosis. The therapeutic approach is represented by surgery followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Hypoxia is a factor that causes a reduction of both radiotherapy and chemotherapy effectiveness in GBM and other cancers. Through the use of [64Cu][Cu(ATSM)], a hypoxia-targeting positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer, is possible to identify the presence of hypoxic areas within a lesion and therefore modulate the therapeutic approach according to the findings.

Human pleural mesothelioma is an incurable and chemoresistant cancer. Using a nude mouse xenograft model of human pleural mesothelioma, we show that RAPTA-T, a compound undergoing preclinical evaluation, enhances tumor vascular function by decreasing blood vessel tortuosity and dilation, while increasing the coverage of endothelial cells by pericytes and vessel perfusion within tumors.
