The purpose of this study was to examine ambulatory blood pressure and heart rate patterns in healthy, normotensive adolescents and to determine the influence of race and gender on these patterns. We studied 48 patients who had glaucomalike disks with increased cupping and pallor, superior or inferior extension of cupping and pallor and asymmetry of cupping and pallor between eyes without increased intraocular pressure or visual field loss, and open angles. A 95-year-old woman presented in cardiac arrest. She had been intubated and positive pressure ventilation had been administered by paramedics. Air was aspirated during cannulation of the subclavian vein and the femoral artery. Chest roentgenogram revealed the heart and great vessels filled with air. Massive air embolism caused by positive pressure ventilation is a well described complication in premature infants, but has not, to our knowledge, been previously reported in an adult.

Two patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus are described suffering from so called 'falling spells'. Postburn hypertrophic scar commonly occurs among the Chinese resulting from serious burn injuries. A non-invasive method of preventing and controlling such scars is using pressure therapy.
