A preliminary open study showed that intranasal immunotherapy can be administered with a constant dosage scheduling, with good safety and efficacy. The present study comprises 300 cases of epistaxis. The analysis of these cases revealed a higher incidence in young males. Current pesticide exposure levels can induce a state of sensitization in exposed workers and only in exceptional situations cause severe intoxication. Three cases are reported--one suffering from urticaria/angio-edema, one from asthma and the other from oculo-rhinitis. Only one subject was atopical. Ten patients who met the Cullen case definition for the multiple chemical sensitivity syndrome were evaluated; a history was taken, and physical examination and fiberoptic rhinolaryngoscopy were performed. This study was a single center trial comparing the effects of the nonsedating antihistamine terfenadine, at a dose of 120 mg twice a day, with placebo in the treatment of rhinitis symptoms associated with the common cold. In a review of 160 consecutive cases of bronchial asthma, 127 (79%) had nasal symptoms indicative of chronic rhinitis or rhinosinusitis.
