Sixty-one women with genuine stress incontinence undergoing preoperative and postoperative multichannel urodynamic investigation were tested with augmenting urethral closure pressure profiles during contraction of the pelvic floor muscles to assess voluntary control of the urethral "sphincter." The objective is to determine if the timing of midurethral sling (MUS) placement has an impact on the recurrence rate of stress urinary incontinence. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients who underwent robot sacrocolpopexy (RSC) with MUS placement at a large community hospital. CASE PRESENTATION: A 79-year-old woman who underwent mid-urethral sling surgery 8 years ago complained mainly of urinary incontinence following abdominal pressure. Various medicines to treat overactive bladder symptoms were ineffective. Cystometry revealed cough-associated detrusor overactivity. We report the case of a 7-year-old girl with a single ectopic ureter who was treated with retroperitoneoscopic nephrectomy for a chief complaint of urinary incontinence. Preoperative CT showed a contrasted dysplastic kidney of 1cm in the renal fossa and a left ureteral opening into the vagina. We present a surgical technique for the management of large urethral fistulas associated with urinary incontinence in the female. The repair consists of the development of a well-vascularized proximal vaginal flap and a needle suspension procedure.
