Patients with phobic disorder (mainly agoraphobics ) of minimum one year duration were treated by self-administered exposure in vivo treatment. Seventy-one patients were randomly assigned to one of three groups: (A) book-instructed, (B) computer-instructed, or (C) therapist-instructed. All three groups improved significantly to a similar extent on various phobic measures at the end of the treatment and maintained their treatment gains at 6-month follow up. A survey of Ascaris lumbricoides prevalence was conducted during 1976 and 1977 in a rural community of Nova Scotia. Of 431 individuals tested, 121 (28.1%) were infected. All those infected were under 20 years of age. There was no difference in the rate of infection between households with pigsties and those without. A significantly higher prevalence rate was found in homes where feces were disposed of in the yard and water was obtained from a dug well. In a concurrent random survey taken in the Halifax metropolitan area, none of the 276 individuals tested was infected.

The purpose of this study was to determine what effect further improvement in an Anger camera's intrinsic resolution has on lesion detection. We studied 52 patients undergoing bone imaging and 58 undergoing liver imaging. All patients had images performed in rapid sequence on ZLC -75 and ZLC -37 Anger cameras, both by Siemens. This study examined by questionnaire the prevalence of binge-eating and self-induced vomiting among a sample of 369 consecutive attenders at a family planning clinic. 20.9 per cent reported current episodes of uncontrollable and excessive eating ('binges'), 2.9 per cent currently induced vomiting as a means of weight control; and 4.9 per cent reported using laxatives. Communication abilities were assessed on a wide range of tests in 56 aphasic stroke patients, 33 classified as "moderate" and 23 as "severe". A pseudocyst developed in a child following acute pancreatitis and spontaneously drained into the common bile duct, a rare occurrence previously described only in adults. The imaging findings are similar to those of a choledochal cyst; serial sonograms enabled diagnosis by documenting evolution of the lesion and should be of value in demonstrating resolution.

Clinical analysis and neuropsychological criteria derived from experimental studies of human amnesic syndromes, particularly the alcoholic Korsakoff's syndrome, have been used to characterise an unusual form of amnesia that occurred in two patients after rupture of an anterior communication cerebral artery aneurysm. In a series of 38 cases of liver hydatid disease, intrabiliary communication occurred in 19 patients (50%), five (13.2%) of whom had frank communication (with main bile duct) and 14 (36.8%) occult communication (with minor bile duct).
