The relationship between performances on a simple discrimination task of the Attentional Set Shifting of the Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Auto mated Battery (CANTAB) and morphometry of the corpus callosum is examined in patients with Alzheimer's disease. Analysis showed patients with probable Alzheimer's disease are heterogeneous for the relationship between performances in the attentional test of the CANTAB and the anterior callosal atrophies. Interest in these results for clinical diagnosis of this mental disease is discussed.

Multiple rice body formation is a complication of chronic bursitis. Although it resembles synovial chondromatosis clinically and on imaging, the literature suggests that analysis of radiographic and MR appearances should allow discrimination. We report the imaging findings in a 41-year-old man presenting with rice body formation in chronic subacromial-subdeltoid bursitis. We found that the signal intensity of the rice bodies is helpful in making the diagnosis.

Arbitrarily primed PCR with two different primers was compared with ribotyping and monoclonal antibody analysis for typing Legionella strains. Applied to 11 epidemiologically unrelated strains, arbitrarily primed PCR resulted in an index of discrimination of 100% with both primers. It was found able to identify an epidemic clone of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 that was isolated from both patients and a hot water circuit of the same hospital.

On 22 auto- or homotransplanted kidneys of dogs a quantitative angiographic evaluation of the corticalis perfusion was carried out. For this purpose four special parameters were evaluated. With the help of the linear discriminance analysis we succeed in a sufficient secure separation between autografts impaired by ischaemia or shock on the one hand and homografts impaired by rejection on the other. It is referred to the prognostic significance of angiography in human graft kidneys with disturbed function.
