A novel environment-friendly process was proposed to conduct the simultaneous removal of NO and SO2. In this process, a micro-bubble generator was utilized to generate the micro-bubble gas-liquid dispersion system (MBGLS) by inhaling mixed gas (NO, SO2 and/or air) and absorption liquid. One challenge in H2O2 based Fenton-like reaction is to break through the limitation of slow reduction of ferric species (FeIII). Present work describes a dramatic acceleration of Fenton-like reaction at neutral pH by using calcium peroxide (CaO2) as a source of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and EDTA as a chelating agent of ferric ions. A novel Cu(CH3CN)4PF6-catalyzed carboamination reaction of 8-aminoquinoline-oriented buteneamides with chloroform to afford 4-(2,2,2-trichloroethyl)-β-lactams is described. The paper provides literature data concerning the role of heredity, anatomico-physiological peculiarities which contribute to the chronic pyelonephritis formation in the childhood. The conditions of the infectious-inflammatory process development in the urinary tract are specified and some reasons of its chronization are mentioned. The peculiarities of the immunological reaction are analysed, as well as the role of nonimmune mechanisms, such as the lipid peroxidation process during the pyelonephritis development in the childhood.

A 36-year-old man with Crouzon syndrome was referred post-operatively with unilateral painful limitation of eye movements and proptosis following removal of bilateral malar and orbital rim implants. Further investigation revealed right inferior orbital emphysema, caused by the intra-operative entrance of hydrogen peroxide through a suspected perforation of the orbital septum. The symptoms settled with conservative management.

This paper presents methods found to be suitable for the determination of thio-salts and sulphate in flotation mill solutions. Thiosulphate, tetrathionate and trithionate are estimated spectrophotometrically after cyanolysis. A modified iodimetric procedure is used for sulphite and a titrimetric method for direct determination of sulphate. The observation that dithionate is not oxidized by hydrogen peroxide but is oxidized to sulphate by potassium chlorate-nitric acid mixture is the basis for estimation of dithionate.
