The four first permanent molars in a 16-year-old girl with juvenile periodontitis were treated by selective grinding, tooth eruption, conventional periodontic treatment and endodontic therapy. The endodontic treatment was carried out as an elective procedure under ideal conditions, thereby pre-emptying the emergency treatment which would have been necessary following occlusal reduction. The two-year follow-up examination showed successful resolution of the original condition.

This study determined the quantity and type of circulating immune complexes (CIC) in the sera of 15 patients with localised juvenile periodontitis (LJP). There was a significantly higher level IgG and IgM in LJP patients as compared with the controls. The possible role of CIC in the pathogenesis of juvenile periodontitis is discussed.

The beta 2-microglobulin (beta 2-m) pattern in gingival biopsy specimen from 24 patients with chronic severe periodontitis (P), from 11 patients with juvenile periodontitis (JP), and from 24 periodontally healthy subjects (CO) was studied with an indirect immunoperoxidase method. This article is a clinical and technical report to illustrate the prosthetic correction of an individual interdental papilla, which had been lost due to periodontal disease. The patient presented with localised aggressive periodontitis and was successfully treated non-surgically. As a result of the periodontal disease and its management, the interdental papilla between the 11 and 21 were lost and prosthetically replaced. The clinical details of the case and the technical procedures are fully illustrated within this article.

The polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN) chemotaxis index and modulation of serum factors in 15 Brazilian periodontal patients (five localized juvenile and ten adult periodontitis) and ten healthy subjects were examined. Adult periodontitis patients showed a normal chemotaxis index, Localized juvenile periodontitis LJP patients showed diminished chemotaxis and serum cell-directed inhibitor activity. The results suggest that PMN abnormalities could not be caused by only the neutrophils themselves, but also by modulation of serum factors acting on this LJP disease.
