Systemic anthrax, caused by inhalation or ingestion of Bacillus anthracis spores, is characterized by rapid microbial growth stages that require iron. Tightly bound and highly regulated in a mammalian host, iron is scarce during an infection. The thaxtomins are a group of phytotoxins generated by the bacterium Streptomyces scabies (the main causal organism of potato common scab). Available members of the group were assessed for herbicidal activity by a variety of standard tests. BACKGROUND: The recent mpox outbreak has disproportionately affected people with HIV (PWH) and resulted in the first widespread use of the novel antiviral tecovirimat. Whether treatment outcomes differ between PWH and those without HIV is unknown.
OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical presentation and treatment outcomes of PWH and HIV-negative persons with mpox virus (MPXV) infection treated with tecovirimat.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this article is to conduct a literature review on first-generation TRK inhibitors (TRKi), namely entrectinib and larotrectinib, to describe the most common adverse events (AEs) and their management in adults.
METHODS: A search strategy was conducted in MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Google Scholar using a list of predetermined keywords. Peer-reviewed articles written in English and published through June 2021 were included. It is well established that sleep deprivation after learning impairs hippocampal memory processes and can cause amnesia. The ongoing monkeypox virus (MPXV) outbreak is the largest ever recorded outside of Africa. We isolated and sequenced a virus from the first clinical MPXV case diagnosed in France (May 2022). We report that tecovirimat (ST-246), a US Food and Drug Administration approved drug, is efficacious against this isolate in vitro at nanomolar concentrations, whereas cidofovir is only effective at micromolar concentrations. Our results support the use of tecovirimat in ongoing human clinical trials.

We report the case of a young adult who became unresponsive after insufflating what he believed to be "crushed Xanax." Naloxone was administered, reversing his altered mental status and respiratory depression. Clinicians suspected opioid toxicity; however, the patient adamantly denied opioid use.
