Prospective Pilot Evaluation of the Safety, Tolerability, and Efficacy of Clindamycin Phosphate 1.2%/Adapalene 0.15%/Benzoyl Peroxide 3.1% Gel plus Clascoterone 1% Cream in Adult Patients with Acne.

BACKGROUND: Acne vulgaris (acne) is a common disorder with a complex, multi-faceted pathophysiology. To date, there has not been a single topical treatment that targets all aspects of acne pathophysiology (ie, increased sebum production, presence of Cutibacterium acnes, inflammation, and follicular hyperkeratinization). As such, topical treatments need to be utilized in combination to target all four of the major recognized pathophysiologic components in acne lesion formation. OBJECTIVE: This single-center prospective evaluation assessed the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of clindamycin p…

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, pilot study to assess the efficacy and safety of clindamycin 1.2% and tretinoin 0.025% combination gel for the treatment of acne rosacea over 12 weeks.

BACKGROUND: Papulopustular acne rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition which can be difficult to treat. Many patients are unwilling to use systemic medications, and single topical agents alone may not address all the symptoms of rosacea. A combination topical clindamycin phosphate 1.2% and tretinoin 0.025% gel is efficacious for acne vulgaris, and may be helpful for rosacea, since acne vulgaris and rosacea shares many similar clinical and histologic features. OBJECTIVE: To assess the preliminary efficacy and safety of a combination gel consisting of clindamycin phosphate 1.2% and tretino…

The clinical impact of vehicle technology using a patented formulation of benzoyl peroxide 5%/clindamycin 1% gel: comparative assessments of skin tolerability and evaluation of combination use with a topical retinoid.

A major challenge encountered in clinical practice in patients with acne vulgaris is irritation related to topical medications used for treatment. Advances in vehicle technology have improved formulations containing active ingredients known to produce irritation in some patients, such as benzoyl peroxide (BP) and topical retinoids. Clinical studies, including combination therapy studies have demonstrated that certain additives, such as silicates and specific humectants, reduce irritation by maintaining barrier integrity. A patented gel formulation of BP 5%/clindamycin phosphate 1% (clindamycin…

Treatment of acne and acne-related scarring with fixed combination clindamycin phosphate and benzoyl peroxide gel (1.2%/3.75%) and tretinoin gel microsphere 0.06% in an Asian American transgender female.

Acne vulgaris is one of the most common skin diseases in the United States and can affect any gender or ethnic group. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) and scarring from acne can have a negative psychosocial impact on patients. Skin of color patients are particularly prone to PIH, as the dark marks left from acne may take several months to resolve, far after the acne has cleared. Here, we report a case of moderate acne with associated scarring in a transgender, Asian American female who was successfully treated with fixed combination topical therapy with clindamycin phosphate and benzo…
