OBJECTIVE: Congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction (CNDO) is the most common cause of neonatal epiphora. Persistence can lead to chronic dacryocystitis and amblyopia. This study analyzed the association between the incidence of CNDO and delivery by cesarean section.
STUDY DESIGN: This was a retrospective cohort study of 386 children with CNDO (born between 2000 and 2008). The incidence of the delivery mode in patients with CNDO was compared with data from a corresponding population derived from annual birth statistics.

This is a case series with chart review from 1997 to 2010 to determine results of endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy in children. Thirty-seven children underwent removal of the medial wall (RMW) of the lacrimal sac (LS) and 2 had lacrimal stents inserted because they had external fistulae and small cicatrized LS. Parameters of success were (1) resolution of epiphora, (2) no further attacks of dacryocystitis, and (3) patency of neofistula. We report a 16-month-old girl referred for bilateral epiphora and sticky eyes since birth. Examination revealed a refluxible left lacrimal sac mucocele, agenesis of the left lower punctum, and agenesis of both puncta on the right side. INTRODUCTION: We performed endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy in cases diagnosed with both anatomical and functional lacrimal obstruction, and here report results for the latter cases.
METHODS: Sixty-eight endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomies were performed for functional obstruction on 44 patients. The indication for surgery was epiphora in 66 patients and recurrent dacryocystitis in two. The minimum follow up was six months.

Sarcoidosis manifests itself with different symptoms and can thereby follow an acute or chronic course. We will discuss one case each. Case 1 involves a 41-year-old patient with Loefgren's syndrome, showing the typical trias of erythema nodosum, bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy and acute polyarthritis. A review of endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (EDCR) performed in University Hospital from 1998 till early 2001 were carried out. They were reviewed for indication, functional results, complications and other associated factors. Eleven patients (6 female and 5 male) were reviewed. We performed a prospective evaluation of endoscopic hammer-chisel dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) procedures on 62 eyes of 44 patients (40 female and 4 male) with chronic epiphora or dacryocystitis (26 unilateral and 18 bilateral).
