We compared the aesthetic outcome of scars after closure of open carpal tunnel incisions with either absorbable 4-0 Vicryl Rapide or non-absorbable 4-0 Novafil. Patients were recruited in a randomized controlled trial and scars were scored at 6 weeks using a modified Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale. Bites from Loxosceles spiders can cause few symptoms to gangrenous skin necrosis or even death. To date, the treatment of the violin spider bite is largely unsatisfactory. Although no specific therapy exists, it has been suggested that heparin, steroids, dapsone, experimental antivenin and/or surgical excision may be beneficial. Three rare cases of suspected spider bite and their surgical treatment are reported. On the basis of geographical area, anamnesis and clinical symptoms, we suppose Loxoceles rufescens responsible for these bites.

The paper refers to an experience of skin reconstruction of a widely damaged lower limb as result of a hot water burn injury in a young girl. Evidence is given to adopted reconstruction times, and to the decision not to recur to flap transposition by skin innests, but to the tissue expansion technique, also to avoid new aesthetic damages. The peculiarity of the experience is in the employment of a multiple number of tissues expander, to meet characteristic problems of the limbs related to this reconstructive technique, particularly in presence of heavy burn scars. Cellophane paper has been used as a dressing for split-thickness skin graft donor sites in 251 patients between October 1985 and December 1989. Twelve donor sites in 10 patients were observed in detail to assess the usefulness of this material. The results of the study are presented and the merits and disadvantages of this dressing material have been discussed. In the opinion of the authors the cellophane paper dressing was found to be most satisfactory. It is also cheaper than the newly available dressing materials for the skin donor area.

We present an unusual case of massive dermal cylindroma (turban tumor), occupying the entire scalpand forehead. It was treated by a total scalping procedure and skin grafting in two stages.
