The objective of this study was to investigate whether the use of an electronic apex locator results in a reduction in X-ray exposure during endodontic therapy. A major cause of tooth discoloration may be sealer remnants in the chamber. The objective of this study was to evaluate, longitudinally, coronal discoloration from four sealers. Extracted premolars were sectioned in the coronal third of the root. The chamber contents were removed and instrumentation was via the canal. One year following root canal treatment and internal etching and bleaching of anterior teeth in dogs, the animals were sacrificed and the teeth prepared for stereomicroscopic or light microscopic examination. Evidence of cervical root resorption and ankylosis was noted on several teeth. The bleaching factors associated with the teeth exhibiting resorption were heat with 30% hydrogen peroxide. Resorption was not related to walking bleach or to internal etching alone.

A method of endodontic treatment, using a modification of Maisto's paste, is suggested for preservation of infected primary teeth. Adding more zinc-oxide reagent and other anti-bacterial materials to the original Walkhoff's paste (Kri 1), for pulp canal medication and final filling, seems to improve the pharmacological effect of the paste by reducing the resorption rate. The literature is reviewed and a case with a follow-up time of three and a half years is described, in which the tooth remained stable.

This article reports the detection of a lesion of dental origin in the mandible of a 41-yr-old male patient during a routine bone scan used as a follow-up to cancer therapy. Unfortunately, more than 1 yr passed before the patient's signs and symptoms became severe enough for a definitive diagnosis to be made. Autotransplantation of teeth has been performed for many years and with varying degrees of success. The present report concerns the long-term results of autotransplantation of 36 teeth with completed root formation. Endodontic treatment was started before or within 12 weeks after transplantation.
