INTRODUCTION: Febrile neutropenia is a life-threatening oncologic emergency requiring rapid recognition and intervention. In emergency departments, nurses are central to patient assessment, triage, and care coordination, yet the extent and focus of nursing-led research remain unclear. This study aimed to map global research trends in the nursing care and management of febrile neutropenia over a 25-year period.
METHODS: A descriptive bibliometric analysis was conducted on 347 peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2025, retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection on October 5,

Intravenous fluid resuscitation (IFR) is one of the most common interventions administered to patients with complex presentations of acute health deterioration. However, a growing body of evidence details variations in practice surrounding IFR due to differences in clinical guidelines, with the effectiveness of IFR reliant upon the selection of the appropriate rate, type and volume of fluid to be administered. According to governing bodies such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council, it is vital that both the prescriber and administrator of IFR have sound understanding of the physiological impli

Background: Nursing regulation is a key component of health system governance; however, its role in structuring the development and deployment of professional competencies remains insufficiently examined, particularly in emerging health systems. Objective: To map and synthesize the evidence on nursing regulation and its relationship with professional competencies across the nursing profession, including the development of advanced nursing roles, and to analyze the Mexican regulatory framework within an international context. Methods: A scoping review was conducted using a structured and transp

Background/Objectives: Palliative care education is a core component of undergraduate nursing preparation; however, many nursing students report limited exposure and confidence in providing end-of-life care. Digital and web-based educational approaches have increasingly been adopted to address gaps in palliative care training and to provide flexible, scalable learning opportunities. This mixed-methods systematic review examined the use of digital and web-based approaches in palliative care education for pre-registration nursing students. The aim was to synthesize existing evidence on education

BACKGROUND: Nurses and nursing assistants are susceptible to work-related musculoskeletal disorders and injuries (WMSDs) due to the increase in overweight and obese patients they are handling on a daily basis.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to review work-related musculoskeletal hazards and risks associated with handling overweight and obese patients, and summarize the recommended interventions to mitigate musculoskeletal concerns among nurses and nursing assistants.
METHODS: Approximately 350 publications were initially screened and 22 refereed articles were used to synthesize for this study o

BACKGROUND: Alcohol withdrawal is a common and potentially life-threatening presentation in custodial health care. Although structured assessment tools and evidence-based pharmacological interventions remain essential, they offer limited conceptual guidance on how forensic nurses integrate biological, psychological, pharmacological, relational, and environmental information during periods of acute instability.
AIM: To introduce the Clinical Stabilization Framework (CSF) as a conceptual model supporting forensic nursing clinical reasoning during alcohol withdrawal in custody.
METHODS: Synthes

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Simulation-based education is increasingly used in nursing programs to enhance clinical competence, yet its effectiveness compared with traditional teaching methods remains uncertain. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of simulation-based education compared with traditional teaching methods in improving knowledge, clinical skills, and related outcomes among prelicensure nursing students through a systematic review.
METHODS: Following PRISMA guidelines, PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov were searched on August 18, 2025, for studies published.

Patients relying on central venous access devices (CVADs) for treatment are frequently complex. Many have multiple comorbid conditions, including renal impairment, nutritional deficiencies, hematologic disorders, or cancer. These conditions can impair the skin surrounding the CVAD insertion site, resulting in an increased likelihood of skin damage when standard CVAD management practices are employed. Supported by the World Congress of Vascular Access (WoCoVA), developed an evidence- and consensus-based algorithm to improve CVAD-associated skin impairment (CASI) identification and diagnosis, gu

Chronic wounds, particularly foot ulcers in persons with diabetes, have become a global pandemic in the developing and developed world. The authors propose a longitudinal interactive education program (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) linked to interprofessional centers of excellence to reduce the incidence of foot ulcers and unnecessary lower-limb amputations. This model is generalizable to other skin and wound conditions.

Background: The need for palliative care (PC) is increasing globally. As frontline healthcare workers, nurses play a pivotal role in providing PC to end-of-life (EOL) patients. Therefore, undergraduate nursing students must be adequately prepared to provide evidence-based, compassionate, and comprehensive care to patients during their terminal phase of life. Herein, we aimed to assess the knowledge and attitudes of Saudi undergraduate nursing students toward palliative and EOL care. Methods: This was a cross-sectional, correlational study conducted on 147 undergraduate nursing students from va

BACKGROUND: Effective communication of nursing science through social media platforms represents a critical strategy for bridging the gap between professional nursing knowledge and public health needs. However, empirical research on nursing science popularization through international social media platforms remains limited, with existing studies often focusing on single determining factors without examining their complex interactions. METHODS: This study employed fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) to identify configurational pathways that drive effective communication of nursin

BACKGROUND: This systematic review aimed to examine how mindfulness approaches affect pain, symptom cluster severity, and quality of life among adolescents receiving cancer chemotherapy. Contrasting with prior syntheses emphasizing adult populations or isolated symptoms, this investigation specifically targets symptom clusters in adolescent cancer patients (aged 10-19 years), a unique population requiring specialized nursing care approaches given their distinct developmental characteristics.
METHODS: A comprehensive literature evaluation was conducted across Scopus, Cochrane Embase, PubMed, C

STUDY DESIGN: Scoping Review OBJECTIVES: Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) are considered the gold standard for evaluating the effectiveness of clinical interventions. In spinal cord injury (SCI) care, nurses deliver many interventions, yet the number, quality, and level of nurse involvement in RCTs remains unclear. Poorly designed RCTs can introduce bias, and limited nurse participation may restrict the development of evidence-based nursing practice. This review aimed to determine: 1. The number and topics of RCTs on nurse-related interventions for people with SCI; 2. The extent of nurse le…

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathways are evidence-based, multimodal approaches to perioperative care designed to reduce surgical stress, standardize clinical practice, and promote earlier functional recovery. In gynecologic oncology, their clinical benefits are well established; however, successful implementation remains challenging because of surgical complexity, variation in institutional resources, inconsistent adherence to protocol elements, and the need for coordinated multidisciplinary care. This narrative review examines the practical implementation of ERAS pathways in gyneco
