Tooth types, their arrangement and the mode of tooth replacement were studied in juvenile and adult specimens of Polypterus senegalus by means of scanning electron microscopy of cleared and stained specimens as well as sections. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of three bone vibrator coupling methods on the neonate auditory brainstem response (ABR).
DESIGN: A repeated measures design was employed. Three coupling techniques were utilised (i.e. hand-held, hand-held applied force gauge and elastic band). ABRs were evoked with a bone-conducted 30 dB nHL 4000 Hz CE-Chirp octave band stimulus. A temporal bone area supero-posterior auricular position for bone vibrator placement was utilised.

We report a severe hand injury with a fracture of the third metacarpal bone, destruction of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the fourth finger, amputation of the little finger of the right hand and several tendon injuries, in an active musician. The fourth metacarpal bone was offset close to the base, the hand narrowed, and the ring finger transferred to the base of the little finger. The outcome was very favourable.
