BACKGROUND: Leptomeningeal metastases is a frequent neuro-oncologic complication in patients with cancer.
OBJECTIVE: Radionuclide CSF flow studies provide a unique method of evaluating CSF compartments in patients with leptomeningeal metastases.

Bulky arylstannanes and bulky aroyl chlorides are good reaction partners for the synthesis of two-, three-, and even four-ortho-substituted benzophenones, in good to excellent isolated yields (47-91%). Three simple and direct routes, with differential advantages, are proposed: (i) a catalyst-free protocol, in o-dichlorobenzene (ODCB) at 180 °C; (ii) a room temperature protocol, using AlCl(3) (0.5 equiv), in dichloromethane (DCM); and (iii) a solvent-free, indium-promoted procedure. A radical mechanism is proposed for the indium-mediated reactions.

Cadmium-free quantum dots (QDs) consisting of silver-indium-gallium-sulfide (AIGS) quaternary semiconductors were successfully synthesized using a metal-dithiocarbamate complex with sufficiently high reactivity to produce metal sulfides. PURPOSE: Continuous intrathecal medication through a surgically implanted infusion system is an established method for treating intractable spasticity or pain. To determine if imaging can guide surgical or medical management in patients with suspected infusion system malfunction, we reviewed our experience in evaluating the functional status of these systems with indium-111 DTPA scintigraphy.

A scintigraphy with Indium-111 labelled platelets was performed in 11 patients with suspected brain embolism. In six patients, an intracardial thrombus was found: four in the region of the left ventricle and two in the left atrial. The regio- and diastereoselectivities of metal-mediated allenylation of carbonyl compounds were investigated in aqueous media. The effect of cobalt doping in the concentration range 0.01 to 0.25 at.% on the structural and sensory properties of nanocomposites based on two-phase indium oxide synthesized by the hydrothermal method is investigated. The phase ratio is shown to change depending on the concentration of added cobalt. The chemically catalyzed production of fructose syrup from high concentrations of glucose is crucial for the food industry and biorefining. In this work, a single crystal catalyst was synthesized via protective desilication of zeolite while incorporating indium. The success of extremity perfusion and the protection from systemic side effects largely depend upon the prevention of systemic drug leakage from the extremity circulation. The use of autologous 111-Indium labelled erythrocytes for leakage control allows a continuous exact surveillance and timely correction of the tourniquet position in case a major leak should occur.
