The serum ferritin concentration, a new means of assessing iron nutrition, was utilized in conjunction with the hematocrit value, serum iron concentration, and total iron binding capacity to determine the effect of a three-month period of iron supplementation in a group of 146 Eskimo children in Chevak, Alaska.
