High-Resolution Ultrasound for Diagnosing Severity of Traumatic Peripheral Nerve Injuries-in-Continuity: A Systematic Review, Meta-Analysis of Individual Participants' Data, and Illustrative Patient Series.

INTRODUCTION/AIMS: High-resolution ultrasound (HRUS) may help evaluate traumatic peripheral nerve injuries (PNIs), but the sonographic features that distinguish low- from high-grade injury remain poorly defined. This study evaluated the utility of HRUS for differentiating injury severity by synthesizing data from the literature and applying these findings to an illustrative institutional patient series. METHODS: We queried for studies reporting HRUS findings in iatrogenic/traumatic PNI resulting in neurapraxia or axonotmesis. Individual participant data (IPD) were extracted and synthesized. M

Integrative multimodal treatment approach for patients suffering from Post-COVID syndrome: a study based on qualitative interviews with individuals participating in an 11-week day clinic program.

BACKGROUND: Post-COVID syndrome is a complex condition affecting patients after SARS-CoV-2 infection. It is characterized by fatigue, pain, reduced resilience, and quality of life. Severe cases resemble myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), associated with post-exertional malaise (PEM). Due to the unknown etiology and lack of curative options, multimodal therapy offers a particularly promising approach to symptom management. METHODS: This qualitative interview study was part of a mixed-methods project conducted in 2022-2023, which investigated the effects of a multimoda

Perceptions of shared decision-making participation during cardiac rehabilitation in coronary heart disease patients after coronary artery bypass surgery grafting: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Cardiac rehabilitation is a widely adopted approach for postoperative recovery in coronary heart disease patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). However, in China, patients tend to be highly dependent on medical staff and less expressive of their personal wishes in medical decision-making due to the influence of traditional concepts. This study aims to investigate the current status of CABG postoperative patients' perceptions of shared decision-making during cardiac rehabilitation. METHODS: Using the Colaizzi's phenomenological method, 19 post-CABG from three t

Safety, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy of rifasutenizol, a novel dual-targeted antibacterial agent in healthy participants and patients in China with Helicobacter pylori infection: four randomised clinical trials.

BACKGROUND: Due to the rapid development of antimicrobial resistance, the efficacy of most Helicobacter pylori eradication therapies have progressively decreased to an unacceptable level. Rifasutenizol (TNP-2198) is a new molecular entity with a synergistic dual mechanism of action currently under clinical development for the treatment of microaerophilic and anaerobic bacterial infections. We aimed to evaluate the safety, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy of rifasutenizol in healthy Chinese participants and patients with H pylori. METHODS: We conducted four clinical trials of rifasutenizol capsu

Which patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer benefit from docetaxel: a systematic review and meta-analysis of individual participant data from randomised trials.

BACKGROUND: Adding docetaxel to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) improves survival in patients with metastatic, hormone-sensitive prostate cancer, but uncertainty remains about who benefits most. We therefore aimed to obtain up-to-date estimates of the overall effects of docetaxel and to assess whether these effects varied according to prespecified characteristics of the patients or their tumours. METHODS: The STOPCAP M1 collaboration conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of individual participant data. We searched MEDLINE (from database inception to March 31, 2022), Embase (from

Perspectives on Participation in a Feasibility Study on Exercise-Based Cardiac Telerehabilitation After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation: Qualitative Interview Study Among Patients and Health Professionals.

BACKGROUND: Aortic valve stenosis affects approximately half of people aged ≥85 years, and the recommended surgical treatment for older patients is transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Despite strong evidence for its advantages, low attendance rate in cardiac rehabilitation is observed among patients after TAVI. Cardiac telerehabilitation (CTR) has proven comparable with center-based rehabilitation; however, no study has investigated CTR targeting patients after TAVI. On the basis of participatory design, an exercise-based CTR program (TeleTAVI) was developed, which included a web-b

Which patients benefit specifically from short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (STPP) for depression? Study protocol of a systematic review and meta-analysis of individual participant data.

INTRODUCTION: Short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (STPP) is an empirically supported treatment that is often used to treat depression. However, it is largely unclear if certain subgroups of depressed patients can benefit specifically from this treatment method. We describe the protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis of individual participant data (IPD) aimed at identifying predictors and moderators of STPP for depression efficacy. METHOD AND ANALYSIS: We will conduct a systematic literature search in multiple bibliographic databases (PubMed, PsycINFO, Embase.com, Web of Science
