The Indented Paragraph reading test has been presented as a useful screening test for identifying hemispatial neglect, as it has been reported to be more sensitive to mild neglect than text with a predictable format (Caplan, 1987). The number of errors made by 42 right hemisphere-damaged stroke subjects on this test was compared with their performance on text with straight margins and unpredictable text, where both right and left margins were irregularly indented. Eight patients who developed pulmonary artery hypertension during the adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) were treated with an infusion of prostacyclin (PGI2, 12.5-35.0 ng.kg-1.min-1) for 45 min. We examined whether reducing the right ventricular (RV) outflow pressures by PGI2 infusion would increase the right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF) measured by thermodilution. The ability to order unknown faces by age was investigated in right and left brain-damaged patients, divided into posterior and non-posterior groups on the basis of CT scan findings. A right-handed woman who became blind at 25 was a good braille reader. After a right parieto-occipital brain damage, she developed a braille reading disorder which contrasted with a completely normal language. This reading disability cannot be analysed in terms of left hemineglect syndrome; rather, it is explained in the broader context of the patient's haptic disorders in many others fields. This hypothesis is connected to others works which suggest a right hemispheric specialization for tactile information processing.

Between 1971 and 1983, 201 patients received synthetic right heart conduits, predominantly porcine-valved Dacron conduits, at The Children's Hospital, Boston. There were 45 hospital deaths (22%). Follow-up has been achieved in 148 of 156 survivors (95%). Thirty-four conduits have been replaced, all because of conduit obstruction. The actuarial freedom from conduit replacement was 81% at 5 years, 61% at 7 years, and 0% at 10 years for valved conduits. The aim of this work was to study the electric pattern of proximal colonic motility in patients with permanent colostomy but without past history of an irritable bowel syndrome. A right cardiac catheterism with a calculation of cardiac output by thermodilution method has been achieved on 40 chronic respiratory failure patients with acute outbreak. The results have been analysed according to the type of chronic pulmonary disease, obstructive (n = 24) or restrictive (n = 16), the number of out asphyxic outbreaks and the necessity of mechanical ventilation (VA).
