BACKGROUND: A laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is routinely used for many types of pediatric surgical procedures and as a rescue airway device. Laparoscopic procedures in pediatric surgery are common and are becoming increasingly widespread. In laparoscopic surgery, the traditional airway approach is the use of endotracheal intubation, while the use of LMA in laparoscopic surgery is not well studied.
AIMS: To evaluate the effectiveness of general anesthesia with LMA versus traditional endotracheal tube (ETT) for pediatric patients aged 12 months to 8 years old undergoing laparoscopic inguinal hern

Pompe disease is a rare genetic disorder resulting from a deficiency of the acid α-glucosidase enzyme. Although arrhythmias occur in these patients undergoing general anesthesia, they have not received sufficient emphasis in pediatric cardiology. We report a case of an infant with Pompe disease who experienced ventricular fibrillation during induction of anesthesia.

BACKGROUND: Intranasal dexmedetomidine is commonly used preoperatively in pediatric anesthesia to reduce agitation and emergence delirium. Esketamine, with sedative and analgesic ef-fects and minimal respiratory depression at clinical doses, is also widely used in chil-dren. However, current evidence remains limited regarding the efficacy and safety of combining intranasal esketamine with dexmedetomidine versus dexmedetomidine alone in improving cooperation during anesthesia induction and reducing postoperative complications.
METHODS: This meta-analysis adhered to PRISMA guidelines and was re…

The case of a pediatric patient with myositis ossificans progressiva in whom it became increasingly difficult to obtain local anesthesia is presented. Intraosseous anesthesia was successful in allowing pain-free dental treatment to be completed. This approach should be considered in other patients who have limited mouth-opening ability due to injury or disease.

BACKGROUND: CHARGE syndrome is a rare congenital genetic disorder caused by variants in CHD7 gene. The acronym "CHARGE" represents its primary features: coloboma of the iris or retina, heart defects, choanal atresia, retardation of growth and development, genital anomalies, and ear anomalies including hearing loss. Craniofacial and oral abnormalities are a significant component of its clinical spectrum and often complicate conventional dental care, necessitating reliance on pharmacological behavior management techniques.
CASE REPORT: We report the case of a 4-year-old boy with CHARGE syndrome

BACKGROUND: Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is a rare genetic disorder characterized by the progressive heterotopic ossification of soft connective tissues, ultimately leading to cumulative disability and ankylosis. Airway management during general anesthesia in patients with fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is particularly challenging because of anatomical abnormalities and the risk of triggering flare-ups due to minor trauma. However, reports on the anesthetic management of pediatric patients remain limited.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Cleft lip and palate (CLP) are congenital anomalies of the craniofacial region, commonly found in low- and middle-income countries, including Indonesia. Surgical correction of clefts typically begins at around three months of age to support infant growth. An infraorbital nerve block is an option for regional anesthesia in CLP surgery. This case series aims to determine the effectiveness of infraorbital nerve block in pain management for pediatric CLP surgery.
CASE PRESENTATION: This case series includes five patients who fulfilled the Millard criteria for CLP surg

Pediatric hip surgeries are associated with moderate to high levels of pain, which, in severe cases can lead to opioid prescription and use. There is a growing focus on reducing post-operative pain in these patients to decrease the need for opioids, as well as increase early mobilization for recovery. Conventional methods of pain relief using opioids can have unwanted negative impacts on pediatric patients such as respiratory depression, nausea, confusion, and the concerning possibility for the development of dependence. Likewise, traditional methods of anesthesia, like the lumbar epidural blo
