OBJECTIVES: We examined the logistical challenges of conducting an outreach, secondary prevention program for adults discharged from Alice Springs Hospital following an acute presentation of cardiovascular disease.
DESIGN AND SETTING: This represents a sub-study of the Central Australian Heart Protection Study (CAHPS). Clinical, logistic and demographic data were used to examine the characteristics of outreach visits in the intervention arm of the study.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore self-management practices among patients and parents of children with sickle cell disease (SCD).
METHODS: The qualitative descriptive design was employed. The study involved 19 participants comprising adult SCD patients ≥16 years, and nine parents of SCD children ≤ 15 years. Purposive sampling was conducted to select participants from a teaching hospital and SCD association. Data was collected using one-on-one interviews, transcribed verbatim, and analysed using qualitative content analysis.

BACKGROUND: The role of community health centers (CHCs) in preventive health care is central to health reform, yet little is known about how CHCs identify and manage sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
METHODS: A survey of Indiana CHCs from April to May 2013 measured reported STI services, clinic expectations for STI testing and management, barriers to screening and management, and partner services.
